Kleinhirnataxie ist eine rezessiv vererbte neurologische Erkrankung, die in mehreren genetisch unterschiedlichen Formen existiert. Sie verursacht eine zytoplasmatische Anhäufung von körnigem Material innerhalb der Kleinhirnzellen, was zu einer Kleinhirndysfunktion führt, die unkoordinierte Bewegungen und Intentionstremor zur Folge hat. Klinische Anzeichen treten nur wenige Wochen nach der Geburt auf, stabilisieren sich im Alter von etwa sechs Wochen, bleiben jedoch bis ins Erwachsenenalter sichtbar. Aufgrund des schweren klinischen Phänotyps und der Symptome müssen betroffene Hunde häufig eingeschläfert werden.

Mutation: RALGAPA1-Gen

Gentest: Die Methode, die für den Gentest verwendet wird, ist äußerst genau und ermöglicht eine vollständige Unterscheidung zwischen betroffenen Tieren, Trägern und gesunden Hunden. DNA-Tests können in jedem Alter durchgeführt werden.

Reviers discussing wrong translation
Format: Hardcover
I have read the two earlier reviews. They are concerned with the Fitzgerald translation indicated as the "paperback" version of this edition. However, this edition (the Loeb Classical Library edition) is not by Fitzgerald but by A. T. Murray and is a prose translation as are all Loeb translations of classical poetry. Of course, the Fitzgerald translation is a monumental classic in its own right, but it is not the edition published by Loeb.
