Standort: terrestrisch an schattigen Stellen entlang der Atlantikküste in Höhenlagen von 100-300m.
Anmerkungen: Anthurium kunayalense ähnelt stark Anthurium dressleri, so wurden einige Herbarbelege auch von Tom Croat falsch zugeordnet und erst einige Jahre später kultiviert. Die genaue Jahreszahl für den Erstfund lässt sich im Moment nicht feststellen, sie datieren auf jeden Fall vor 1980. Deutliche Unterschiede zu Anthurium dressleri lassen sich in der grünen Spatha und dem grünen Spadix von Anthurium kunayalense erkennen.
