Cá d’Oro is a glass manufacturing studio in Minas Gerais, Brazil. The founder Mario Seguso descends from one of the most esteemed, historical and respected glass manufacturing families on the island of Murano, off the coast of Venice, Italy. Murano was and still is internationally renowned for its glassmaking industry and the Seguso family has been involved in the industry since 1292. In 1954, Mario Seguso, who was at the time still living in Italy, was invited to Brazil by Cristais Prado, a renowned glass engraver. Seguso was enchanted by Brazil and decided to stay to produce glassware by the ancient tradition for the Brazilian market. In the 1990’s, Mario Seguso passed along the management of the company, that had grown exponentially over the decades, to his son Adriano. Cá d’Oro is to this day led by Adriano, and since a couple of years, the latter’s sons Rodrigo and Guilherme are also involved in the family business, carrying on the centuries-old tradition. The Seguso family produces the glass pieces by melting sand, calcium carbonate and sodium carbonate at a high temperature. The skilled artisans working at Cá d’Oro then mouth blow the glass into the desired shape, creating artistic and eye-catching decorative pieces.

Flimsy and doesn’t hold weight

Do not buy this. The frame this comes with is so small and flimsy. I didn’t even have anything on the shelves yet and they were falling off the wall. The wood is a beautiful color but the quality is awful.
I had different floating shelves on the same wall and I included a picture of the thick metal frame those came with, also from Amazon to show how flimsy this brand is.

Really nice shelves well-made

Look nice, not sturdy or supportive

The color and thickness of the shelf is great. Very easy to install. But the wall mount portion is cheaply made and doesn’t support the shelf as well as it should. Once mounted the shelf leans forward and isn’t sturdy. After mounting, I found my items had slid off end up on the floor.
