Standort: am Osthang der Zentralkordillere der Anden in Höhenlagen von 600 bis 1500m als mittelgroßer Epiphyt auf Ästen hoch oben in hohen Bäumen. Cattleya quadricolor benötigt viel Licht für die Blütenbildung.
Anmerkungen: Diese Art ist seit Jahren als Cattleya quadricolor oder Cattleya chocoensis bekannt. Dr. Ruben Sauleda hat nach einer Untersuchung aller für diese Art verfügbaren Namen herausgefunden, dass der Name Cymbidium candidum Kunth 1816 das wahre Basionym dieser Art ist. Aufgrund der Prioritätsregel ist das Epithet candida für den Artnamen zu verwenden.
