We present the Loftsails Skyblade 2026.

Specially developed to get maximum performance out of low-drag hydrofoils, the design goals of the Skyblade are clear: maximum speed and full control in flight.

Radically high aspect ratios and wide mast pockets combine to create a rig that feels balanced and predictable in flight. For 2026, almost every detail has been further refined, taking this platform to a whole new level. Newly tuned luff curves and a slight realignment of the batten angles improve balance and lower the pressure point and center of gravity of the sail. A deeper cut foot area with a shorter foot batten also ensures more efficient aerodynamics and greater control at full power.

At the heart of stability are the Skyblade's carefully tuned carbon slats. They create a clean, light, and fixed profile with minimal drag. The new TekCam 3 camber system is 30% lighter, allows for higher fin angles, and ensures smooth, precise rotation. This reliable rotation is crucial for staying focused during races and allows you to jibe and transition with confidence and without compromise.

The Skyblade's mast pocket combines multiple laminate and fabric panels in a double-layer, stretch-resistant zone made of 2-mil quad-axial X-ply and IYU250 fabric material. This integrated two-layer tendon runs from the top to the clew behind the mast and helps the pocket maintain its optimal shape over time. A new 50-mm triple stitch on the mast pocket further increases durability – season after season.

The new dual Kevlar 5.0 mil laminate clew radials stabilize the sail under load and distribute forces evenly for consistent propulsion and clean forward pull.

To withstand the stresses of high tension and extreme forces, all contact points on the Camber Inducer are equipped with metallic cam interfaces. This prevents material fatigue and ensures consistently high performance over time.

The Skyblade is designed for uncompromising durability in competitive conditions. Reinforcements in the central window area, on the leech and in the foot consist of X-Ply laminates, while Bi-Ply panels in the upper area offer excellent UV protection and protection against structural failure. New 5-mil X-Ply laminate panels on the leech further increase strength in areas subject to particular stress.

The whole thing is rounded off by a clean, functional minimalist design. Superfluous marker and scrim material has been reduced to minimize swing weight and keep the center of gravity low.

The Skyblade 2026 is an uncompromising foiling machine, ready to deliver even more speed, even more control, and even more confidence in every race.

Couldn't put Ida in the Middle down until the end
Format: Hardcover
Ida in the Middle so vividly captures the point of view of a girl not only sorting out feeling like and being treated like an outsider in a new school, but her relationship with her immigrant parents, her younger and older sister (she is in the middle), and her growing awareness of her family's community in the Middle East. It is is warm novel of feelings, friendship, and the magic transport to the "Its A Wonderful Life" alternate reality of what being in 8th grade would be like if her family had stayed in the village where her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins still live. It is also a novel, like those set in other wartimes, that exposes hard realities. Descriptions of her alternative private school in the US and watching the "Arabs Got Talent" music competition on TV have some of sly wit of Where'd You Go, Bernadette, but the learning that Ida and the reader develop about both the community ties and the danger and dehumanization of checkpoints, home demolitions, and raids takes the book to another level of complexity and empathy for difficult circumstances and choices. Throughout, Ida's viewpoint as a 13-year-old trying to understand the world around her is fresh and appealing. She proves to be an unexpectedly level-headed protagonist as the plot carries her into danger and into new readiness for action. Through the course of the novel, both the reader's and Ida's empathy grows for the desperate situation of Palestinian farmers whose land is under siege (and of all living under occupation), for parents' struggle over the choice to remain out of the country, and for the daily decisions to claim joy and pleasure even if it entails contradictions. Ida left me energized and inspired, and ready to gift this book to the middle-grade kids I know, and also to my teacher friends who keep books in their classrooms for students to read.

A "magical" story of Palestinian life in the West Bank
Format: Hardcover
This young adult novel by Nora Lester Murad focuses on the quandary of a Palestinian-American teenager, Ida, who is learning about American culture while her extended family in the West Bank must cope with Israel’s many policies that discriminate against Palestinians. As Ida ponders how to fit in better at her school and a topic for a school assignment, she is magically transported to the land of her ancestors where she soon finds herself in a difficult situation. The novel explores several aspects of these policies, including the demolition of a friend’s home due to her family’s inability to get a construction permit. In between these difficult situations, there are some twists and turns that remind the reader of the importance of family and friends. This novel will help to validate the experiences of Palestinian youth who are "caught in the middle" like Ida. Readers of all ages will gain new insights into conditions for Palestinians living in the West Bank and how these pressures impact the daily lives and futures of Palestinian youth. (A teacher’s guide is available, which will be especially helpful for those unfamiliar with the situations described in Ida in the Middle. )

A must-read to shed light on the experiences of Palestinian-American children
Format: Hardcover
I picked up this book not knowing what to expect. What I ended up with was a rich and beautiful telling of the experiences of a young Palestinian-American girl who is trying to find her voice in a world that misunderstands and silences her. She is the hero that so many students need to hear about. Ida in the Middle beautifully weaves history, culture, and hope together for an empowering story of justice.

We are past due for Palestinian American heroines!
Format: Hardcover
Such an engaging read for this adult. How many books for older children have a Palestinian American main character as engaging as Ida? Not since Amani in "The Shepherd's Granddaughter" by Anne Laurel Carter (2010) or Liyana in "Habibi" by Naomi Shihab Nye (1997). We need diverse books and MORE of them. They are good food for discussion.

The Struggle to Belong
Format: Hardcover
Ida in the Middle is a must-read for anyone who cares about justice for Palestinians in Palestine, in the USA, and everywhere else. Author Nora Lester Murad gives us a protagonist struggling to find her place in a world that often denies her dignity. Her struggle is everyone’s struggle, especially in these turbulent times.
