Betnovate Description
Betnovate is a topical corticosteroid that's used to relieve inflammation caused by eczema.
It calms the immune system, which helps to reduce inflammation and aids in healing the skin.
Available as a cream, lotion, ointment, and scalp application.

What is Betnovate?

Betnovate has betamethasone as its active ingredient. It's part of a group of medicines known as corticosteroids, which are used to reduce inflammation. Betnovate is effective in treating rashes from eczema and dermatitis, as well as the flaking that comes with psoriasis.

Betnovate is available in several forms. You can choose from a cream, a lotion, or an ointment, all of which are applied to the skin. There's also a scalp application specifically for treating psoriasis on the scalp.

How does Betnovate work?

Betnovate is a corticosteroid, which is a type of steroid. It helps by calming down your immune system. Conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis occur when the immune system overreacts to things like allergens, and Betnovate helps manage these reactions.

This excessive reaction leads to ongoing inflammation, resulting in symptoms such as the rashes seen in eczema and the flaking associated with psoriasis. Corticosteroids, such as Betnovate, work by "turning off" certain genes that manage inflammation. This helps reduce swelling and allows the skin to heal.

What doses of Betnovate are there?

Betnovate is available in two strengths: the cream, ointment, lotion, and scalp solution each contain 0.1% of the active ingredient betamethasone.

Betnovate RD cream and ointment have a lower concentration of betamethasone at 0.025%. They're ideal for keeping your skin in check after Betnovate has helped improve it or for managing milder eczema.

How long does it take Betnovate to work?

You can usually notice the benefits of Betnovate within a few days. For scalp psoriasis, many people observe a significant improvement after just three days. If you've been using it for four weeks without any progress, it's a good idea to speak with our clinician. There may be a different treatment that works better for you.

What should I do if I make a mistake when using Betnovate?

If Betnovate accidentally gets into your eyes, rinse them with water for ten minutes. Using too much Betnovate might make you feel unwell. If you notice any issues afterwards, it's important to seek medical help.

If you forget to apply Betnovate at your usual time, just do so as soon as you remember. Avoid using extra to compensate for the missed application.

How is Betnovate different from other treatments for eczema?

Betnovate is much stronger than other corticosteroids such as hydrocortisone and clobetasone. This means it usually acts more quickly to reduce swelling. If you're experiencing severe symptoms of eczema, psoriasis, or dermatitis, Betnovate might help ease your problems more swiftly. It's also a suitable choice if milder corticosteroids haven't been effective for you.

Is Betnovate similar to any other treatments?

Betnovate is a brand of betamethasone, but there are other brands like Betacap and Audavate. These different brands and generics can vary in how they look, their dosage, price, and form. While you might not have as many options with a generic, it could be more affordable. Ultimately, the choice is mostly yours.

Which version of Betnovate should I use?

The type of Betnovate you need depends on the location and size of the inflamed area. For issues on your scalp, opt for the scalp application. If the affected area is large, go for the lotion. For smaller areas, you can use either the cream or the ointment.

How effective is Betnovate?

Betnovate is a very effective treatment for eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis. It often provides faster relief and noticeable improvement more quickly compared to other corticosteroid treatments such as clobetasol.

This is probably because it's stronger than many other similar treatments.

Do I need a prescription for Betnovate?

Yes, you'll need a prescription for Betnovate. It's a strong corticosteroid, so a clinician must ensure it's safe and appropriate for you before prescribing it.

not bad
Format: Kindle
I loved the plot of this book. The characters just didn’t have a lot of depth. The connections and “love” just weren’t communicated very well in the writing. The author didn’t write the sweet psycho trope very well at all either. Lachlan was just a mess of a character.

A Beta Worth Rooting For
Format: Kindle
In Spare, Violet Fox flips the omegaverse on its head, giving us a Beta heroine determined to make her mark. Joining the Beta Trials to support her sick father, she's thrown into a pack that doesn't want her, especially the possessive Alphas. But here's the twist: their sweet Omega turns out to be her scent match. Cue the angst, forbidden tension, and a slow-burn romance that will make your heart ache in the best way. Violet Fox delivers an emotional, refreshing take on the genre, proving Betas aren't "spares." They're stars.

Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

Good start to a series
Format: Kindle
I delayed reading the series for reasons I don’t remember. But my TBR list is huge so I thought I’d take a shot of this and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t think the blurb about it was anything special. But it was a very good book. It took some interesting twists and turns. I am so glad the second book is already out. Because I would not have waited patiently. Very slow burn but good storyline. 🔥🔥/5
