“Jazzercise” was a total palate cleanser song for me. I originally wrote it as sort of a joke, to casually see if I could adhere to a very specific type of prompt. I understood the assignment so well that it became quite serious, while still holding that goofiness. When I brought it to Eric, he was so excited about it that we barely changed a thing from my demo to the final version. It took the edge off in such an addicting way, in such a genuinely fun way. To commit to the bit so hard that something becomes so authentic and hyper-sincere.
We totally would have missed an opportunity if we hadn’t made a video for this song. Making That was one of the funnest days on set I’ve ever had. I basically asked all of my extremely talented friends to dress up in leotards and learn Molly Hess’ amazing choreography all in a day. We used our local cable access television to shoot, because we could get it for free and knew it had the exact right vibe. I had all of my closest friends and collaborators on the crew. It was really such a dream come true.
Get What You Want, the anticipated 4th album from Ciarra, blends nostalgia with a punchy sonic direction that is all Fragale’s own. The album exists in motion, both giving listeners a place to feel, and a space to dance. While the instrumentation can be sweeping and celestial, she uses her innate songwriting dexterity to deliver a hyper-sincere story of self-actualization.
