Epaderm Description
An emollient that moisturises the skin and restores its natural barrier to keep moisture in.
Available as topical ointment for dryer skin and cream for oily or moist skin.
You can also use Epaderm ointment as a skin cleanser or add it to your bath.

What is Epaderm?

Epaderm is an emollient that can assist in treating dry skin conditions such as eczema and dermatitis. It includes moisturising ingredients like paraffin, which aid in repairing the skin barrier. Additionally, it is free from harsh chemicals or fragrances that could irritate your skin.

Dermatitis is a broad term for skin inflammation, including conditions like atopic and seborrhoeic dermatitis. While the precise cause of the inflammation is often unclear, it usually leads to a weakened skin barrier. This can cause the skin to become dry and crack.

If you have dermatitis, you may be advised to use Epaderm, possibly with another treatment, to help ease your symptoms.

How does Epaderm work?

Epaderm includes ingredients such as paraffin that aid in repairing your skin barrier. When you apply it, it forms a protective layer that stops germs and irritants from getting into your skin. It also leaves an oily layer on your skin's surface, which helps lock in moisture and stops water from escaping. These actions work together to mend your skin barrier and keep it well-moisturised.

What is the difference between Epaderm cream and ointment?

Epaderm cream and ointment both contain similar ingredients and are good for treating dry skin. The key difference is that the ointment is much thicker and oilier compared to the cream, which helps keep your skin moisturised for longer.

How long does Epaderm take to work?

Your skin should feel immediately moisturised after using the emollient. While you should notice an improvement in your skin over time, if you experience severe swelling, you may also need treatment with topical steroids.

What should I do if I make a mistake when taking Epaderm?

If you sometimes forget to apply the cream, there's no need to worry. Simply continue using it as usual when you remember. Your skin might feel a bit drier if you skip an application, so try to use it as regularly as possible for the best results.

Can I use Epaderm on my face and scalp?

Certainly, you can apply Epaderm cream and ointment to your face and scalp. When doing so, make sure to spread it in the direction your hair grows to prevent blocking your hair follicles.

How well does Epaderm work for dermatitis?

In a study involving 114 people with eczema or other skin conditions, participants used an emollient and a cleanser containing paraffin and glycerin, just like Epaderm cream. After four weeks, 84% of them noticed their skin was more moisturised, and 86% said their skin felt softer. Significant improvements were observed within just two weeks. No serious side effects were reported during the trial.

Can Epaderm treat dermatitis?

Emollients play a crucial role in managing dermatitis, but they won't completely cure the affected area. Depending on how severe your condition is, you might also need steroid treatment. However, it's essential to keep using emollients regularly throughout the day to aid healing and lessen irritation.

You can also use Epaderm products for wet wrapping. This involves putting a thick layer of cream on the affected area and then covering it with a damp bandage. This method helps to repair the skin barrier by locking in moisture and stopping water loss.

Is Epaderm available prescription-free?

Yes, you can get Epaderm without a prescription. It's usually safe for daily use, but it's a good idea to discuss with your clinician to ensure it's the right treatment for your skin condition.

One of the best Bat stories that I've read.
Format: Paperback
Coming off from The Long Halloween, Jeff Loeb and Tim Sale give us the sequel to their popular story tale in which we see Batman go at it with another year long mystery, while also giving us an origin story for the first Robin, Dick Grayson. After reading this book, I have come away having with even more love of the Dark Knight's mythology, while coming to see this as my favorite Batman story that I have read, even if it doesn't stand as well on its own. ON the narrative side of things, Loeb delivers a story fairly similar to the one he gave in The Long Halloween, though I feel this one is a bit more polished than Halloween was. Some have said that the retreading of plot structure have limited the way Loeb's later works are read, but I myself have no problem with it (for the most part), Loeb manages to do enough differently that you don't feel like you're reading the exact same story. The real big negative I'd have to give this graphic novel is that it really doesn't stand as well by itself than if you had read The Long Halloween. While I myself read that story before coming in to this one, I did see many connections that I would assume would through off any newcomers who hadn't read the prior story. But I will say that this is the story that had me invested the most emotionally. Without giving away any spoilers, that last page in the novel gave me such a cathartic experience that I really came to appreciate certain aspects of the Dark Knight's mythology, and how themes of loneliness were touched upon in a very genuine way. Looking at the art for the novel, Sale's work has improved much from The Long Halloween. I always mention in reviews concerning Sale that I was originally not a fan of his art, but after going through his work, you can't help but admire the level skill he manages to put in his drawings. There is a very big noir feeling in this novel (a plus for ) that is just delivered so well that any preferences in art I may have against Sale are put away in admiring the way he plays with lighting in the story. My biggest complaint for the art, which is a more of a personal thing really, is that I do not like the "pixie" costume they gave Robin (which is his default costume that many would associate him with). I have never really liked this costume, probably never will, but again, this is just me. Overall, I would say I really enjoyed the novel and would have to recommend it to any fans of the Batman (although I'd make sure you have read The Long Halloween first). This has come to be one of my most favorited Batman stories I've read, and I hope others will receive the same level of satisfaction that I have.

Great Sequel to Long Halloween
Format: Paperback
This takes all of the great elements of the Long Halloween and keeps it going. The two of those books together is a great story telling. Ticks all the boxes of a great Batman book. If you like this and Long Halloween check out The Penguin show on HBO Max. and if you like The Penguin but haven't read these two books you should since the show pulls a lot of influence from them.
