The Blackmagic Design Spares - ATEM Constellation 8K - LCD Display is the integrated 2.2-inch color screen located on the front panel of the 2RU chassis. Unlike the external Multiview, this high-resolution screen is dedicated to local monitoring of any input, output, or internal source, as well as providing the interface for the technical setup menu.

Because the Constellation 8K is often used in high-intensity mobile flypacks or deep-rack environments, this display is critical for "sanity checking" signals without needing an external monitor.

Core Responsibilities

  • Source Monitoring: Allows the operator to scroll through all 40 inputs and 24 outputs to verify signal presence and quality directly at the rack.

  • Menu Navigation: Renders the text and icons for adjusting IP addresses, video standards (HD/4K/8K), and audio settings.

  • Status Alerts: Displays critical hardware warnings, such as "Fan Failure," "PSU Failure," or "Over Temperature."

  • Audio Meters: Provides a visual representation of the master program audio levels for quick reference.

When to Replace the LCD Display

  • "White Out" or "Black Out": The backlight is active (the screen glows), but no text or video is visible.

  • Cracked or Leaking LCD: Physical impact has caused the "ink" to bleed or the glass to spider-web.

  • Vertical/Horizontal Lines: Permanent digital "strips" across the image, usually indicating a failure of the bonding between the LCD glass and the ribbon cable.

  • Burn-in: The "ATEM" logo or menu headers are permanently ghosted onto the screen after years of 24/7 operation.

  • Flickering Backlight: The screen pulses or dims intermittently, making it difficult to read in dark control rooms.

Technical Installation Note

Repair Level: 3 (Moderate).

  1. Front Panel Access: To reach the display, you must remove the top cover of the Constellation and then the screws securing the front aluminum faceplate. The LCD is typically mounted to the back of this faceplate or a sub-bracket.

  2. The FFC Connector: The display uses a Flexible Flat Cable (FFC). These are notoriously fragile. You must use a plastic tool to flip the locking gate up on the connector before attempting to slide the cable out.

  3. Alignment and Dust: Before sealing the unit, ensure there is no dust on the inside of the clear protective window of the faceplate. Once the unit is closed, any debris will be illuminated by the LCD backlight.

  4. Static Safety: The LCD driver chips are extremely sensitive to static. Wear an anti-static wrist strap and avoid touching the silver traces on the ribbon cable.

Diagnostic: Display vs. Front PCB

  • It is the Display if: The screen shows physical cracks, dead pixels, or lines, but the menu buttons and knobs around it still work.

  • It is the Front PCB if: The screen is black and the buttons/knobs are also unresponsive, or if the screen shows "gibberish" data while the rest of the switcher functions via software.

Pro-Tip: Protecting the New Screen

The Constellation 8K LCD is designed to stay on as long as the unit has power. If the switcher is installed in a permanent rack that is never turned off, use the Front Panel Settings (via the ATEM Setup Utility) to dim the display to 50-70%. This significantly extends the life of the LEDs and prevents the "yellowing" of the LCD panel over time.

Are you seeing physical damage to the glass, or is the screen simply failing to display a picture?

I'd give 10 stars if I could
Holy cow! This is it! For YEARS I've been looking for a product that would align the bezels on my monitors. I found this product by scrolling through reels and then found the link to Amazon. The price was steep and I was hesitant, but I took the gamble and I'm so glad I did. Installation is slightly confusing, and you really want to know how this works before you adhere it to any surface. I'll break it down for you: Align your monitors flat next to each other. Attach one side with the adhesive, then snap the other side on with the magnet. Peel that adhesive strip and lay it on your second monitor so that they are even. Repeat for the bottom. Twist the U shape up for the left, down for the right. Adjust your angle and then lock them by putting the U shape back to how it was. That's it. The stability on these simple magnets is excellent. I went from a wobbly mount to locked in and only moving when I want it to. I'm so happy this product exists. That's German engineering for you. 💪💪

Works well...but the price!
I ordered two sets to connect 3 monitors together for a workstation at my job. These are well designed and the magnets are pretty strong. Installation is easy and it holds the alignment well. The only issue is the price. For what it is, the price is quite high. The value proposition would be much higher for those who need to be able to not have them aligned from time to time, such as rotating one around for others to see in an office. But if don't need to do this and just want alignment, there are much cheaper options. If you want to go the cheapest DIY route and it won't be seen, some popsicle sticks with two sided tape works well. You can crack them in the middle to act as a hinge.

Awesome product only thing that worked
I originally thought the Screen Buddy was overpriced, but after spending hundreds of dollars trying to perfectly align my monitors for sim racing, this is genuinely the only thing that has actually worked properly. Triple monitor alignment is one of the most frustrating parts of building a sim rig, especially with monitor arms constantly moving or sagging. This finally made everything line up the way I wanted. Expensive? Maybe. Worth it after all the headaches? Absolutely. Great job.

Doesn't stick
The adhesive tape kept coming off. I cleaned and followed the installation instructions, but it still kept coming off. Wouldn't recommend.
