Sennheiser HME 26 S Professional Single-Sided On-Ear Broadcast Headset

The Sennheiser HME 26 S (Official Article Number: 700321) is a premium, lightweight single-sided (one-ear) closed-back supra-aural (on-ear) broadcast headset purpose-built for outdoor television, live radio reporting, and dynamic communication intercom environments.

The "S" designation specifies its single-sided frame layout, allowing commentators and operators to maintain direct acoustic contact with local venue cues, producers, or colleagues off-mic. The "E" designation indicates its high-performance electret condenser microphone capsule, which delivers an extended high-frequency vocal tracking curve comparable to standalone studio recording microphones.

Key Acoustic and Operational Attributes

  • Single-Sided Isolation Framework: Features a single active on-ear cup paired with a comfortable, non-padded secondary temple support arm on the opposing side. This layout keeps one ear completely free to monitor local environment cues, crowd atmosphere, or direct conversations without removing the headset.

  • Pre-Polarized Electret Cardioid Capsule: Outfitted with a high-transient, noise-reducing electret condenser microphone element ($40\text{ Hz}$ to $20,000\text{ Hz}$). Its cardioid pickup profile filters out ambient stage chatter and background city noise, delivering crisp and authentic vocal articulation.

  • Triple-Setting ActiveGard Hearing Protection: Equipped with a built-in protective ActiveGard limiting circuit. Accessible via an onboard switch mechanism, it lets operators choose between three protection thresholds (Off, 95 dB, or 110 dB SPL) to tame sudden incoming communication blasts or line feedback.

  • Flexible Left- or Right-Side Wear: The microphone boom arm rotates a full 270 degrees, allowing it to be worn on either the left or right ear. The temple stabilizer and active ear cushion naturally shift to align with the chosen side configuration.

  • Modular Cable-II Architecture Base: Ships directly from the factory without an attached cable. The headset features a specialized multi-pin connector socket at the base of the cup, enabling seamless integration with Sennheiser's Cable-II series (such as the XLR-3/1/4" combo or XLR-4F variants).

Field Configuration and Power Management Advice

Supplying Bias Power to the Electret Capsule: Because the HME 26 S utilizes a condenser microphone element rather than a dynamic one, the capsule requires electrical bias power to operate. When using standard combination cables (like the Cable II-X3K1), ensure that P48 Phantom Power is turned on at your audio console, camera body, or intercom base station. If phantom power is turned off on that channel, the single-sided headphone will still play audio perfectly, but the microphone will not register a signal.

Shock-Mount Management and Care: The electret capsule inside the boom head is protected by an internal mechanical shock-mount suspension array designed to absorb structure-borne noise, such as frame adjustments or cable rubbing. When adjusting the boom angle, handle it by the flexible mid-section rather than grabbing the microphone head capsule itself. This protects the internal suspension from being forced out of alignment over long production seasons.

Great book for learning about startup culture.
Format: Paperback, Format: Paperback
I had this book for a while did not have the chance to read as soon as I got it. Recently finished reading it and learned a lot of great things about startup terminology and how to be fast and how to iterate things in a right way, how to go deep in the problem. Identify pain points for the problem etc. Overall great teacher for anybody who wants to get grasp of a being in startup world.

Learning Faster, Failing Smarter
Format: Paperback
This book is truly amazing. Each chapter offers so much to learn. It helped me review what I’ve missed so far, anticipate future challenges, and prepare ways to reduce the chances of failure. It reminded me that failure is inevitable, but the speed of learning, adapting, and retrying makes all the difference. I learned that luck comes through action, ownership is everything, and true success lies in persistence and focus. The book also emphasizes solving real problems with humility, data, and continuous iteration. I’m truly grateful to have found this book — it changed the way I think about challenges and growth.

You NEED this book!!
Format: Kindle
If you are involved in a startup, or thinking about getting involved this is a must read. Jame's doesn't just rely on his own experience, he has been advising founders for years and does this with close relationships, not boardroom pontification. His blunt approach is balanced with his caring critiques. You can read dozens of books on startups and find out, when you actually are in one, how little applies to you. This is not that. Must read!!

Excellent book with a lot of solid advice
Format: Kindle
I thought this was an excellent book. It gave great advice that I found really helpful in thinking about and planning my startup, as many of the other comments have noted. The key ideas as far as I remember are that a) you should talk to as many potential users as you can and find out what their problems are, and b) be laser-focused on solving those problems instead of building what it is you want to build, because the thing you want to create might not be the thing that they want to buy. In fact I did just that; I talked with just one potential user and found that what I had thought would be their big problem wasn't a problem at all for them, and looking at some hard numbers as he advises, it isn't a problem for the industry as a whole, either. I had to go back and reformulate my approach. I now have a 100% better value proposition for them. Just two words of caution: 1) The book assumes that your startup is an app of some sort. Much of what he's talking about is therefore specific to the tech business. Mine isn't. Mine is a real product that people can hold in their hands. That wasn't a deal breaker by any means as most of the lessons in the book are still applicable to my product and what I'm doing. Still, it would've been nice of him to acknowledge that someone's start-up may be a lemonade stand or something material and concrete like that. 2) Is the vulger language necessary? I mean, English isn't like some other languages where there's an enormous difference between the way a language is written and the way it's spoken, but still, do we need so many obscenities in a book on business? It reads in some places like you're in a bar with a tech bro who's had a few drinks and is lambasting your approach to your business. I could've done without all the four-letter-words. But maybe that's just my generation.
