Regency 9ct Gold Dolphin Seal with Bloodstone Intaglio “Phyllis”A beautifully modelled early 19th century Regency gold cased fob seal, featuring an intertwined dolphin rising to form the handle, a motif rich with both classical and contemporary symbolism. A beautifully modelled early 19th-century Regency gold-cased fob seal, featuring an intertwined dolphin rising to form the handle, a motif rich with both classical and contemporary symbolism. The dolphin was a favourite emblem of the period: drawn from antiquity, associated with protection and safe passage, and adopted in the Regency era as a subtle nod to Britain’s naval triumphs under Lord Nelson. It also carries echoes of French royal iconography, the “Dauphin”, adding an additional layer of historical resonance.

The base is set with a polished bloodstone intaglio engraved with the name Phyllis. Names drawn from classical literature were extremely fashionable in the early 19th century, and Phyllis, a pastoral heroine found in Greek myth and in Romantic poetry. It was used by cultured Georgian and Regency families who admired classical revival style. It is an evocative, poetic name that fits seamlessly with the neoclassical sensibilities of the piece.

A wonderfully characterful seal combining symbolism, history and sentiment and a rare surviving example personalised to its original owner.

Best sub paper!
Size: 8.5"x11"
This is actually my second box of this paper I purchased. I use it that much! I like it that much! It works easily through my Epson 2850. The sub ink transfers to this paper with vibrant colors before pressing. I like the ASub print on the back to help me load the paper correctly in my printer. The ink does not bleed through the paper. I like that this paper comes in a plastic bag and in a box. This is helpful to keep the moisture out of the paper. The paper is durable as I try to manipulate on my substrate.

It works
The adhesion on this is great once you've pressed it down. Key to note that it slips off very easily if it's not firmly pressed to the paper Im sublimating with. That's more of a plus for me because it's easy to move around and adjust without ripping the paper. Great value for the dollar overall. Performance wise it's done a great job of holding down the paper and stopping bleed through.
