N that replaced the 5cm anti tank gun with a short 7. 5cm L 24 howitzer to create a close infantry support version. Converted from earlier Ausf. J L M hulls, the Ausf. N was often assigned to Tiger and Panther units to provide close range infantry support, since the long barrel tanks were less suited to engaging soft targets and enemy troops
The Tamiya 1/35 Panzer III Ausf.N (35290) reproduces one of the most interesting Panzer III variants — the Ausf.N that replaced the 5cm anti-tank gun with a short 7.5cm L/24 howitzer to create a close infantry support version. Converted from earlier Ausf.J/L/M hulls, the Ausf.N was often assigned to Tiger and Panther units to provide close-range infantry support, since the long-barrel tanks were less suited to engaging soft targets and enemy troops at short range.
