About the Author

Murphy van Benschoten was born in Akron, Ohio, and has lived in New Haven, Connecticut; Adelphi, Maryland; Saginaw, Michigan; Madison, Wisconsin; and now northern Wisconsin. She attended Michigan State University and graduated with a degree in graphic design with a minor in psychology. She was married for forty-nine years and raised two children and now is grandmother to two granddaughters. In her spare time, she enjoys writing short stories and poetry, playing golf and pickleball, and gardening.

Best toy outside of Ghonuts for heavy chewers. Even outlasts the most durable Kongs. I'd say we get about four months before our dog starts really making a dent in it and the size of the pieces he pulls off start to become larger and I should probably replace it after about six months. It's cheap enough that replacing it that often is fine. *Important note* using squishy toys for heavy chewers is really important. They can break their teeth on hard toys like Nyla bones and things like antlers can break and cut them and damage their digestive system if they swallow the shards. It sucks because my dog loved Nyla bones and would chew off an inch a day, but I couldn't risk his teeth like that.

I've tried encouraging them, by holding on one end of it and encouraging them to grab the other end, but even that didn't work. Perhaps a much larger 'giant' breed dog would enjoy it.
