STORY BEHIND THE STAMP: Back in 1869, a stamp design was created based upon John Trumbull's painting "The Surrender of General Burgoyne at Saratoga" in New York. Although an engraving was created, the stamp was never issued. This 1994 stamp features that original engraving!
