He joined the guerillas in Northern Luzon and was designated G-3, GHQ USAFIP NL. The plans he drew up enabled the USAFIP-NL to breach Gen. Tomoyuki YamashitaÕs mountain fortress, incapacitate his troops by demolishing their weapons and supplies, and cut off their contact with Japan. This left the Japanese Imperial Forces in the Philippines with no other alternative but to surrender, bringing an end to World War II in the Pacific arena.
