Simplify the recording process and attain the audio performance of a large-format console in a compact and elegant desktop package with the Audient iD14 MKII, a high-performance 10x6 USB type-C audio interface designed by respected experts, for musicians, producers, podcasters, voiceover artists, and more. The MKII edition not only boasts a fresh exterior, but new wonders inside, such as improved sonics, expanded outputs, and audio loopback for content creators.

The iD14 boasts a pair of the same Class-A mic preamps found in Audient's world-class consoles, ensuring gold-star treatment for your dynamic or phantom-powered condenser microphones. A harmonically rich JFET 1/4" instrument input is also provided, so you can plug your guitar or bass directly into the interface and get the character of valve amplifiers.

Outfitted with 24-bit / 96 kHz AD/DA converters, the iD14 delivers premium accuracy while remaining natural and musical, devoid of problems caused by distortion and unstable clocking. The inclusion of a TOSLINK optical port enables digital input expansion via an ADAT- or S/PDIF-equipped external mic preamp or A/D converter.

With two pairs of stereo 1/4" monitor outputs, 1/4" and 3.5mm headphone outputs, and comprehensive console-style monitor control, the iD14 interface lets you listen to your content in high quality, smoothly adjust your levels, and access dim, cut, mono sum, and more. Plus, there's the revolutionary ScrollControl, a function that can be used to control anything over which your mouse pointer hovers.

DAW software, virtual instruments, samples, cabinet simulations, and more are included to get you started on your path toward achieving polished productions. The iD14 can be powered via USB from your Mac/Windows computer.

What's New in the MKII

  • Redesigned appearance
  • USB Type-C connectivity
  • USB 3.0 bus powered
  • True phantom power over USB
  • Additional monitor/line outputs (four on the MKII versus two on the original iD14)
  • Two headphone outputs (1/4" and 3.5mm), ready to drive headphones up to 600 ohms
  • Improved audio performance specs
  • Audio loopback for content creators

Two Class-A Microphone Preamps

The iD14 incorporates a Class-A microphone design developed by legend David Dearden and optimized over 20 years of refinement. It features high-grade opamp design that delivers low noise, low distortion, and high common mode rejection at all gain levels.

Analog I/O

The analog I/O includes two XLR-1/4" combo mic/line inputs and a harmonically rich discrete JFET DI input, which is designed to replicate the input stage of a classic valve amplifier—plug your guitar, bass, keyboard, or drum machine straight in and start recording instantly.

Connect and listen to your mixes through two sets of speakers with iD14's four line outputs. Alternatively use the extra line outputs to send audio to an external headphone amp for distribution to your artists.

Equipped with both 1/4" and 3.5mm headphone jacks and a powerful headphone amp capable of driving headphones up to 600 ohms, the iD14 is ready to take on the most demanding recording sessions.

8-Channel Digital Input Expansion

The iD14's TOSLINK optical input can accept ADAT or S/PDIF digital signals, allowing up to eight additional inputs over a single digital cable. Expand your recording setup with an ADAT-equipped 8-channel mic pre such as the ASP880 (available separately).

Audio Loopback

Audio loopback enables you to capture playback from applications on your computer at the same time as your microphones, an ideal function for content creators, podcasters, and streamers.

would have been better as a blog
Format: Paperback
First off, I have read over half of this book, but ultimately decided to put it down because it had a low signal-to-noise ratio. If the second half is filled with magic, I apologize in advance. What I liked: * The author is very honest. He does not shy away from discussing his failures (and successes). * The postmortem on the game "Life of Pixel" was especially good. * Interviews from various indie studios are sprinkled throughout. What I did not like: * A number of pieces of information were already out-of-date. This makes me think that the concepts should have been discussed at a higher level. For example, specifics about game engine costs are discussed. These numbers have changed since E3 of this year. Definitely recheck any information before formulating a plan based on the book's recommendations. * The indie studio interviews are a wasted opportunity in that they each interview has the same set of questions. It's like a questionnaire was sent out via email and the responses were pasted into the book. * When discussing commercial options, such as engines or other software packages, blurbs once again appear to be cut-and-pasted (this time verbatim from the package's web site). * Some of the advice is too broad and too light. For example, when writing about how to create a press release, the author discuss how to write in the active voice. I'm frankly not looking for writing tips in my Indie Game Developer Handbook. * The book is filled with tons of web links. My paperback copy was not so useful here. I ultimately left the book with the impression that the information would have been much better in the form of a blog. The author could have really gone in depth with the parts of the book that shined while keeping the surveys of topics in a form that serves them better (i.e. web links on the web).

Helpful information and Questions to consider
Format: Paperback
As a writer of science fiction and fantasy I had already looked into the physical aspects of the worlds I was creating, but I quickly realized I needed to include society and culture in the worldbuilding. I started a search for information, questionairres, or guidelines to use and found very little that would be helpful to me as a writer. Until I came across this book. It's exactly what I needed. It touches on multiple aspects of beliefs and practices and asks questions to help you think through what you want for your worlds, even if it's mostly backgroud. A very useful tool.
