This new narrative brings forth the never before seen personal photographs of that were taken by former Sgt. Clarence H. Douglass who served with the 96th Co (H). 6th Marine Regiment in World War I. Through these photographs we see what it was like for him during recruit training at Marine Barracks, Paris Island, South Carolina, duty with the newly formed 96th Co (H). and 6th Marine Regiment while at Marine Barracks, Quantico, Virginia, and his service in both the French and German Theater of Operations from the Toulon Sector lines at Verdun, France in early spring of 1918, to the 3rd U.S. Army Occupation of the Koblenz Bridgehead, Germany in early summer of 1919. The names and images of those he knew and served with while in combat in France during the summer of 1918 humanize the experience of these Marines by allowing us to see the war through the eyes of a Marine.
