The Best American Magazine Writing 2019 presents articles honored by this year's National Magazine Awards, showcasing outstanding writing that addresses urgent topics such as justice, gender, power, and violence, both at home and abroad. The anthology features remarkable reporting, including the story of a teenager who tried to get out of MS-13, only to face deportation (ProPublica); an account of the genocide against the Rohingya in Myanmar (Politico); and a sweeping California Sunday Magazine profile of an agribusiness empire. Other journalists explore the indications of environmental catastrophe, from invasive lionfish (Smithsonian) to the omnipresence of plastic (National Geographic). Personal pieces consider the toll of mass incarceration, including Reginald Dwayne Betts's "Getting Out" (New York Times Magazine); "This Place Is Crazy," by John J. Lennon (Esquire); and Robert Wright's "Getting Out of Prison Meant Leaving Dear Friends Behind" (Marshall Project with Vice). From the pages of the Atlantic and the New Yorker, writers and critics discuss prominent political figures: Franklin Foer's "American Hustler" explores Paul Manafort's career of corruption; Jill Lepore recounts the emergence of Ruth Bader Ginsburg; and Caitlin Flanagan and Doreen St. F lix reflect on the Kavanaugh hearings and #MeToo. Leslie Jamison crafts a portrait of the Museum of Broken Relationships (Virginia Quarterly Review), and Kasey Cordell and Lindsey B. Koehler ponder "The Art of Dying Well" (5280). A pair of never-before-published conversations illuminates the state of the American magazine: New Yorker writer Ben Taub speaks to Eric Sullivan of Esquire about pursuing a career as a reporter, alongside Taub's piece investigating how the Iraqi state is fueling a resurgence of ISIS. And Karolina Waclawiak of BuzzFeed News interviews McSweeney's editor Claire Boyle about challenges and opportunities for fiction at small magazines. That conversation is inspired by McSweeney's winning the ASME Award for Fiction, which is celebrated here with a story by Lesley Nneka Arimah, a magical-realist tale charged with feminist allegory.Binding Type: Paperback

Rugged, Reliable, and Built to Last
I picked up this Carhartt billfold wallet a while ago, and it’s exactly what I expected from the brand—tough, well-made, and built for everyday use. It’s holding up great, even after months of being stuffed in my pocket, dropped, and tossed around.
What I Like:
Durable Materials: The leather and stitching are rugged and high quality. It still looks good and hasn’t shown signs of wear.
Plenty of Storage: There’s more than enough space for cards, cash, and ID, and it doesn’t bulk up too much. The removable passcase is a nice bonus.
Classic Look: Clean, no-nonsense design. It has a workwear vibe that fits the Carhartt name perfectly.
Comfortable to Carry: Even fully loaded, it fits nicely in my back pocket without being uncomfortable or bulky.
Feels Like It'll Last for Years: You can tell this wallet was made with longevity in mind.
Final Thoughts:
If you want a simple, reliable wallet that won’t fall apart on you, this one’s a great pick. It looks good, performs even better, and lives up to the Carhartt name.
Highly recommend for anyone who values durability over flash.

Overall it's a pretty nice wallet, and its different, unique.
Color: Carhartt Brown
This is a nice wallet. I am deducting one star for the reason another buyer noted. The card pockets are extremely tight. A solution that I came up with was to take a plastic putty knife and push down inside the card pockets and stretch the material out, this helped a bunch! One thing I really like, the material is not as slick as a leather wallet, so if a person has trouble with their wallet sliding out of their pocket, I think this one would be less likely to do that. Overall I'm pretty happy with it.

This is the wallet you actually want.
Bought in late 2018, letting this wallet retire now in early 2026. Strong, durable wallet. For the money, definitely worth it.

Very Durable
This is the second wallet I've bought. Same type. First one was for a durability test. Pull, stretch, bend, twist at the seam, and it held up much better than similar wallets in the same price range. Highly recommend this wallet if you are hard on them like I am. Plenty of space for cards, cash, receipts, random papers and other items that seem to find their way into it throughout the year. And still doesn't feel big and bulky to sit on. I was a die hard trifold guy for many years because I couldn't find a bifold that could hold all my stuff in it. But this bifold holds everything and still has plenty of room for more. If you want a good quality wallet for a decent price the mossy oak Carhartt bifold is definitely the way to go, you won't be disappointed.
