Rolex Cellini Tank Ref. 4113 – The Golden Minimalist of 1970s Elegance

In an era when Rolex was defining the language of luxury beyond its tool-watch roots, the Cellini line emerged as the maison’s purest expression of artistry. Among its most distinctive creations stands the Cellini Tank Ref. 4113, a rare 18k yellow gold dress piece that fuses classical geometry with Rolex’s uncompromising standards of refinement. Slim, sculptural, and quietly opulent, this example—produced in 1975—embodies the golden age of handcrafted Swiss elegance.

A New Shape for Rolex – The Tank, Reimagined

While the Tank silhouette has long been associated with early 20th-century horology, Rolex’s interpretation of the form carries its own identity. The Ref. 4113 transforms the classical rectangular case into something sharper, more architectural, and unmistakably Rolex.

The watch’s design lines feel like they were carved rather than drawn—clean planes, tapered lugs, and a presence that balances delicacy with confidence. Its 26 × 34 mm proportions are quintessentially mid-century: discreet on the wrist yet undeniably luxurious thanks to the density of its solid gold construction.

Case – Heavy Gold, Sharp Geometry

Crafted entirely in 18k yellow gold, the Ref. 4113 has a weight and tactile warmth unexpected from a watch so refined. The surfaces retain their crisp edges, the geometry of the Tank form preserved with beautiful symmetry.

The 4.27-million serial places production squarely in 1975, a period when Rolex’s Cellini atelier emphasized hand-finished artistry over mass output. This era of Cellini watches, long overshadowed by the brand’s sport models, has in recent years been rediscovered by collectors drawn to their craftsmanship and rarity.

A Rolex gold-plated buckle accompanies the piece, completing the period-correct ensemble.

Dial – A Champagne Sunburst with Sculpted Indexes

If the case provides structure, the dial offers poetry. The champagne soleil-finished surface radiates soft, directional light—subtle in shadow, luminous under sun.
Its special-shaped applied indexes, with their slight faceted edges, add depth and sophistication, catching glints of light with every angle of the wrist.

The composition is anchored by the hand-applied Rolex coronet at 12 o’clock, standing proudly over a layout that exemplifies 1970s elegance: restrained, deliberate, beautifully balanced.

Movement – The Manual-Wind Calibre 1601

Inside beats the Rolex Calibre 1601, a hand-wound movement built for precision and longevity. Freshly serviced by a professional watchmaker, it winds smoothly and runs with quiet assurance—a mechanical heartbeat for those who appreciate the ritual of daily winding.

Rolex rarely highlighted their mechanical artistry in their dress lines, yet the Cal. 1601 is a testament to the brand’s consistency: reliable, beautifully finished, and engineered to outlast generations.

Strap – Belgian Craftsmanship, Modern Comfort

The watch is paired with a brand-new, handmade Belgian leather strap, chosen to complement the watch’s warm gold tones and understated presence. Soft, supple, and refined, it enhances the Cellini’s versatility—equally appropriate with formal tailoring or minimalist contemporary style.

Why This Watch Matters

The Rolex Cellini Tank 4113 is more than a dress watch; it is a snapshot of the brand’s most artistic era. In a world dominated by sports models and steel icons, the Cellini represents a different kind of luxury—quieter, purer, more intimate.

This particular example stands out for its:

  • Heavy 18k gold case with sharp edges and elegant proportions

  • Rare shaped indexes and luxurious champagne sunburst dial

  • Freshly serviced manual-wind calibre 1601

  • Period-correct Rolex buckle

  • New artisanal leather strap

  • 1975 production year, confirmed by its 4.27M serial

It is a piece for collectors who appreciate refinement over noise, craftsmanship over hype. A watch that whispers rather than shouts—yet says everything about the taste of the person who wears it.

Saved over $60 and felt like a DIY hero!
Size: 7.5" x 8.7" x 1.4"
I bought the BOSCH 6092C HEPA Cabin Air Filter after a tire/service center quoted $76 to do the same job I did in no time. Instead, I watched a quick YouTube video, grabbed a screwdriver, and had it swapped out in under 5 minutes—no sweat, no special tools. The filter itself is high quality, fits perfectly, and noticeably improved the air quality in my car. No weird smells, and the airflow feels cleaner and stronger. Honestly, it’s one of the easiest upgrades I’ve ever done. If you’re even slightly handy (or just tired of paying for basic service), this is a no-brainer. Great product, easy install, and a satisfying win for anyone who likes saving money and doing things themselves.

Great aftermarket filter
Size: 7.5" x 8.7" x 1.4"
Performance will be TBD but after a test air does smell a bit cleaner. It Fits a 2018 Subaru Impreza just like the OEM does. Material is significantly better as well. The only thing that will cause confusion is the arrow designation many are used to. The OEM will state which way the filter is to be oriented (up), and this aftermarket version designates which way airflow goes which is usually in the direction of the blower or engine bay (down). Keep that in mind. Otherwise, it’s so easy and such a good peace of mind maintenance item everyone should do and NEVER pay the dealer.

Works ok, but not perfect. Manage expectations.
Size: 7.5" x 8.7" x 1.4"
My goal was to reduce or eliminate bad particulate odors coming in from outside while driving, as drive through areas with high particulate pollution. Sure, recirc mode exists, but then cars fill up with CO2 quickly, and high concentrations of CO2 makes you drowsy and have slow reaction times, etc. So I looked into better cabin air filters. My Subaru has an easy-to-access cabin air filter. I learned how to properly change it via online videos, because the dealership wants over $50 just to change the filter, and it only takes a few minutes! The OEM filter I took out is not that good, and only meant for larger particulates, to protect the HVAC system. It reminded me of the cheaper (but not cheapest) furnace air handler filters. Placing this new filter in and testing it, it does block more airflow, which is to be expected from a finer filter. My car's blower has 7 running speeds (plus off), and I needed to turn it up one notch higher to get about the same airflow, versus the previous filter. The filter seems to work, somewhat. If behind a diesel truck, I still smell it. Same with cigarette smoke from a car in front. It doesn't block vape vapors at all, it seems. However, maybe I was expecting too much. The infographic for this filter clearly shows the size of particulate it can handle, which I appreciate very much. Diesel exhaust is a very fine particulate, smaller than this filter can filter. I also wonder if outside air is getting around the filter in the filter housing, since it just slides in, like a furnace air handler filter. It has a good fit though, in my car at least. What I need is an even finer filter, but that would likely block a lot more airflow. There are various manufacturers of high-end cabin air filters, but I don't know if they match or exceed the quality of this one.

Good as OEM
Size: 7.5" x 8.7" x 1.4"
2024 Sub Crostrek, it fit great. I was so worried, that I need to get the OEM filter, but I went with this instead. Today as I installed the new filter, it looks as good or better than the original. I get that there's more to it than looks, but the quality of the look and feel appear to be matching that of the original, perhaps i might suggest it's even better.

Great cabin filter at a super price.
Size: 7.5" x 8.7" x 1.4"
I trust Bosch for car parts, and for the price and ease of installation, I'd take it over the Subaru OEM part any day. This is an easy replacement that the dealer would charge x4 the price to do.
