Knit with attitude is 10 in 2020, and it has been well more than a year since our team started working on Knit with attitude's 10 year anniversary book.

It was so inspiring collaborating with so many talented designers on our collection, and I can't even begin to describe the feeling when the samples came through our door so we could see them in real life.
The comforting support of our tech editor scrutinising every word and number in the pattern drafts, the excitement meeting with the printers, the enthusiasm we had planning the photo shoot, all the joy of working with people we love for such a celebratory project, which we of course would finalise with a grand party – dancing, Prosecco, fireworks and bunting, laughter, knitting and fun! A book project with, by and for our community!

When announcing the upcoming book last autumn, everything seemed to come together beautifully, what a year of celebration we had planned and prepared for! But if there is one thing I have learned as an independent yarn shop owner it is that everything is unpredictable and nothing is certain in our wonderful woolly world.

In a blog post beating my own drum I wrote:
"I did not see this coming, the world being put on pause and a different reality formed for all of us. There will not be an anniversary party, there will not be get togethers and celebratory workshops - but let me assure you there will be a book!"

When we announced the book back in the autumn we said that one of our goals was to create something beautiful that translated the experience of being in our shop, the atmosphere, community and conversations shared on a daily basis. We wanted to bring Knit with attitude to you as a piece of us that could be kept and treasured in your home where ever that happened to be. This intention now speaks on so many more levels than when setting out to do it.

Your very own piece of Knit with attitude between the covers of a book.

No gory details.
Format: Paperback
While the “Donner Party” is a very disturbing topic from US history, I feel this book gently writes through the gory bits but keeps relevant to the suffering of those on Oregon Trail which makes this very suitable for young readers.

Engaging and Different!
Format: Hardcover
Looking for a new kid's author to try now that Harry Potter has retired to a quiet life out of the spotlight? Try Stuart Gibbs. His first novel, Belly Up, is an engaging mix of mystery, humor, and adventure (as well as lots of trivia about the animal kingdom ranging from the fascinating to the . . . well, I'll let you read the book!) The story takes place at FunJungle, a huge new zoo/amusement park filled with many colorful characters. When the not-so-loveable mascot of the park, Henry the Hippo, turns up (literally) dead one day, only 12-year old Teddy, the son of two zoo employees, recognizes that this was no random event and begins his investigation only to find himself a target. The book is perfect for the 5th-8th grade crowd (although very enjoyable for us grown-ups who haven't quite grown up yet and still love well-crafted young adult titles). I'll definitely be following his next book (not a sequel to this but an adventure based on the Three Musketeers when they were younger) which looks like will be available this fall.

Amazing but one problem
Format: Kindle
I LOVE this book but the one problem is that there are curse words. I'm 12 and I'm aware that Stuart Gibbs curses but I feel like in this particular book he cursed a lot more than he usually does but other than that I absolutely LOVED reading this I will get the whole series for sure! If you already have read this whole series and want to read more I highly recommend spy school ( all of them there are I believe 13 of them) and space case.

Fun for Kids of All Ages
Format: Paperback
Belly Up is a hit with my 8-year-old son, and even my 14-year-old can’t get enough of it! The story is funny, adventurous, and full of clever twists that appeal to both younger and older readers. It’s perfect for kids who love animals, mystery, and humor — a book that keeps everyone hooked from start to finish.
