Troy Lee Designs - D4 Composite Optic MIPS Helmet (MTB)

D4 Composite Optic MIPS Helmet is a Troy Lee Designs mountain bike helmet built for mountain bikers who want full-time confidence. The D4 platform is known for downhill-focused coverage and a locked-in feel when the terrain gets steep and fast. The composite build gives it a balanced mix of feel, durability, and value for regular riding. The Optic treatment gives this helmet a more individual feel than a plain solid option. The MIPS-equipped build adds another layer of confidence for riders who prioritize modern helmet technology.

It carries the kind of mountain bike fit that feels settled when speeds rise, but not so heavy or cumbersome that it becomes a distraction on the pedal back up.

Why We Like It: it fits the way a modern MTB helmet should: secure, ventilated, and ready for real terrain.

Why It’ll Work for You: This is a strong pick when you want a mountain bike helmet that feels at home on everything from rough local descents to destination riding.

Variants / Options: multiple sizes and colorways available; check the selector for current stock.

Key Features:
  • Always Evolving. Built with an aerospace shell design and materials, we were able to get the D4 Composite helmet to 1050 grams without sacrificing any strength. Mips® C2 protection system is used to add an additional layer of safety in the event of a fall. For comfort, the D4 Composite routes cooling air through a front air intake system that flows through the polymer center and power grid side mesh keeping your head cooler during the ride. X-static® and XT2® anti-microbial/anti-odor padding keep the inside of the helmet a much nicer place to be.
  • Mips® C2 Rotational Impact Brain Protection System
  • 20 high-flow intake and exhaust ports for maximum ventilation
  • Added EPS and new headform shape for improved impact performance
  • Full incremental sizing for greater range of fitment
  • Strategically placed interior chinbar shock pads for comfort and durability
  • Quick-release and contoured 3D cheek pads for emergency helmet removal
  • Purpose-built internal cavities for audio integration
  • Stainless steel chinstrap D-rings are light and strong
  • Includes TLD drawstring helmet sock
  • Exceeds bicycle certifications: CPSC 1203, CE EN 1078:2002+A1:2012 ASTM F1952-15, ASTM F2032-15, ASTM F2040-11

Super Low Quality/Unacceptable QC
Color: Black, Size: Wheel-6 Panel
I spent probably about an hour putting it together, only to take it right back apart and pack it up to return. The dimples for half the poles were on the wrong side (double and triple checked to make sure they couldn't be spun around. The threaded ends for the wheels were freely spinning on all but 2 wheels, making it impossible to actually tighten them fully. Once it was all put together, the screens could not be folded up to neatly put it aside when not in use. All in all, this was shamefully low quality for the money spent.

Not as tall as anticipated
Color: Black, Size: Wheel-6 Panel
Definitely not 6 feet tall, more like 5 1/2. Very sturdy and the fabric is thick. Works well for what we're using it for.

True to Description
Color: Black, Size: 4 Panel
Love it!! I bought it for privacy while the nurse is dressing my dad. There were several colors black matched the decor . It blocked the sunlight and street lights. Durability and quality very good. Easy closure when not in use. Lightweight. No assembly needed
