Incidents of Travel and Adventure in the Far West: With Colonel Fremont's Last Expedition Across the Rocky Mountains: Including Three Months' ResidencIn August 1853, an American born Sephardic Jew, Solomon Nunes Carvalho, accepted John Fr mont's invitation to join his fifth expedition to find the best overland route to California. In August 1853, an American-born Sephardic Jew, Solomon Nunes Carvalho, accepted John Fr mont's invitation to join his fifth expedition to find the best overland route to California. A Baltimore artist, inventor, and daguerreotypist, Carvalho was given the job of creating a photographic record of the lands and peoples along the way.

Fr mont's party left the Missouri on September 14, 1853, traveled up the Kansas River, overland to the Arkansas, upriver past Bent's Fort to the Huerfano, and traversed the Sandhill Pass into the Rocky Mountains. Beset by heavy snows and intense cold, they were reduced to eating their horses and mules and the occasional beaver or porcupine while making their way in midwinter across the Grand, Green, and Sevier Rivers. Suffering from frostbite, scurvy, and dysentery, Carvalho left the expedition in Utah; spent four months among the Mormons in Salt Lake City, where he observed with keen interest their system of spiritual wives; and reached California in 1854.

Carvalho became the first Jewish writer to publish accounts of the Great American West and was also one of the first people to photograph the American West. Although only one of his plates is known to survive, others became the models for wood and steel engravings that broadcast the image of the West throughout the world.

This Bison Books edition restores the discourses on Mormon doctrine omitted from previous twentieth-century editions.

Great for Sublimation!
I’m a bit new to sublimation and was worried about having dull colors, but this ink is doing wonders! The quality is great, I can adjust the amount on the printer and get the exact, rich, vibrant colors I want. (I found some recommended settings for brightness, contrast, etc… and then tweak the cyan, magenta, and yellow to the desired amount.) I definitely recommend getting this ink! It’s so easy to refill the printer (I have an Eco tank 15000). The cost is not bad at all. I’ve only washed some of the items one time and so far the ink has remained unchanged. Seems like a winner to me!

Vibrant colors, great traction on fabric, and easy cleanup
This sublimation ink has been a great find. The colors are vibrant and transfer beautifully to fabrics, mugs, and phone cases. The traction on the material is excellent—designs don’t smudge or fade easily after pressing. I also appreciate how clean it is to work with. Refilling my Epson EcoTank printer was simple, and there were no messy drips or stains. Cleanup of tools and surfaces was quick with just a damp cloth. For beginners or experienced crafters, this ink delivers consistent, professional-looking results every time.
