2016 Long Meadow Ranch Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir from Anderson Valley, Mendocino, California

A deep ruby red color with a combination of dried earth and musky roses with penetrating spice aromas on the nose. Shows a refined and silken texture and remains fresh and lively across the palate with intensity of fruit. Intriguing, balanced, and complex, it is a great picture of the finesse and intensity of Pinot Noir in Anderson Valley.

Wine Enthusiast: Delicious and exotic fruit flavors light up this elegant, concentrated wine. Rhubarb, black-cherry and spiced plum scents are followed by equally generous fruit flavors and deft touches of spicy oak that add nuances of baking spices and black tea.

Wilfred Wong: The 2016 Long Meadow Ranch Anderson Valley Pinot Noir is rewarding and excellent. TASTING NOTES: This wine deftly combines aromas and flavors of red fruit, blackberries, dried earth, and savory spices. Pair it with rosemary and garlic-infused roast leg of lamb. (Tasted: June 27, 2020, San Francisco, CA)

Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate: The 2016 Pinot Noir Anderson Valley has a pale to medium ruby color and spicy notes of cinnamon, tree bark, dried cranberries, burnt orange peel and woodsmoke with a core of red and black berry fruit. The medium-bodied palate is elegant and nuanced with spicy character and a grainy, fresh frame, continuing to blossom on the long, detailed finish.
James Suckling: A floral pinot with rose water, fresh herbs and cranberries. Medium body, fine tannins and a fresh, driven finish.
Zesty and incisive with nuanced, teasing fruit aromas and vibrant, juicy fruit on the palate.
Today all the vineyards are ably managed by Tony Fernandez. All of our vineyards are farmed using organic practices certified by California Certified Organic Farmers.

Necessary and humorous companion to Pamela
Format: Kindle
After reading Richardson’s novel Pamela, this satire gives at least some perspective to the story as the “other side of the coin” and perhaps tempers the almost unbelievable virtue displayed in Pamela. However, reading these in 2018 with perspective of 250 years of history available to us, they are a good reminder that it’s still a dog eat dog world, as seen through the #metoo movement of 2017. Men in power abusing sex, other men in power blaming women as gold-diggers. Maybe now this ages old tale gets a new ending?

Old and good
Format: Paperback
Not sure how I should apply adjectives to a book that made history. The style belongs to a bygone era; Shamela is fun because it is a satire, and not intended to be great literature.

parodies of a classic
Format: Paperback
In Shamela, Fielding gives us the behind-the-scenes true Hollywood version of Pamela's story (and it's tabloid worthy). In Joseph Andrews, Fielding shares the tale of Pamela's brother caught in the same sort of madcap antics she endured.
