Following the success of 2012's 'Weather Systems'--widely acclaimed as one of the band's best works--& extensive global touring throughout 2012 & 2013, Anathema was brimming with vitality & artistic confidence. Very few predicted that 'Distant Satellites' would end up being the band's penultimate studio release--a fate that left scores of fans around the world devastated, but ultimately imbued the album with a sentimentality & nostalgia that only enhances the emotional weight of the songs within.

Anathema described 2014's 'Distant Satellites' as 'the culmination of everything we've been working up to so far in our musical path. Recorded at Cederberg Studios in Oslo with favoured producer Christer-Andre Cederberg, the album was elevated even further with additional mixing by the Grammy-nominated Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) & extraordinary orchestral arrangements crafted by Dave Stewart (Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson).
