Robert Sotelo of The Robert Sotelo Group // With their solid, tight and acrobatic displays of full-on groove inducers, Leeds' Thick Syrup are excited to share their debut album, Living In Leeds, due 23rd February on Nottingham cult label, Gringo Records (Hookworms, Sauna Youth, That Fucking Tank, Part Chimp). An adequate description of the group's particular blend of guitar band genres is not easy, but touchstones exist on a continuum somewhere between The Meters, Black Sabbath and Shocking Blue. Thick Syrup was formed in Leeds in 2013 by Guy, Paul and Tom out of a mutual love of 60s garage, 70s funk and early hard rock, with the intention of creating music outside of the stylistic ballpark of their other more straight up aggro bands Broken Arm, Mob Rules and Whipping Post. In 2014 saw the group's desire to have an organ player fulfilled by the recruitment of Dom Berry (The Static Waves, Ambulance) who has played in a plethora of groups with Guy over the last 25 years, and through 2015 the group solidified into a more coherent sound and their jamming began to give off a feeling of 'these would be cool songs if we had a singer'. Not finding anyone quite right in the immediate vicinity of Leeds, the search was cast to friends further afield, and Gemma Fleet, who has played in such groups as The Wharves, Trogons and Kasms entered the picture, completing the jigsaw, answering the riddle and naming the now complete group 'Thick Syrup'.1. Unique armadillo design
Style: Armadillo
I love the look of this armadillo toy. The flexible rubber shell gives it a spiky texture. It has reinforced nylon seams and printed eyes. The feet allow the toy to stand on its own, daring dogs to come knock it over. With a body length of 12" and standing 5" tall, the toy is of good size for even larger dogs, but it intimidated my 8lb yorkie mix. She found the hard shell and spikes off-putting and not fun. The toy is supposed to squeak, but either mine was broken or buried too deep to be useful. This was disappointing because I think a squeak would have helped my pup engage with the toy because she can't resist a noisy toy. I'd recommend this armadillo for larger dogs than my tiny pup. It seems durable with that rubber shell around the body.

Very Sturdy and Safe for Tough Chewers

We already had a smaller fish toy from this brand, and after 4 months it is, amazingly, still intact. So we ordered this larger one as a holiday present. Our dog usually can rip apart any toy, even "tough chewer" toys, within a few minutes or hours, so this brand is a definite keeper for us. We have also had their giraffe toy for 4 months with no rips or holes. The best part is that there is no stuffing to worry about. Inside the toy is a rope toy instead of stuffing, so it is so much less risky. Highly recommended.

Not worth the money
The dog toy that I received looks nothing like the picture. There is no stuffing, the seams are on the outside leaving frayed fabric exposed and toy itself is tiny. It is being returned.

Owls love it too!
My friend who is a licensed Master Falconer currently has an Owl as her partner. The owl (a female) is playful and had stolen a dog toy a while back and played with it until she shredded it. She loves her squeaky fish and plays with it every morning, tossing it about or shaking it.
