This account of the war in Vietnam is based exclusively on personal experience. It is not a chronological narrative but is written as a series of memories that stand out among many over my 22-month combat tour from March 1969-December 1970. Each chapter stands alone. My goal for this book is to disclose the reality of my life as a combat ÒHueyÓ helicopter pilot and to illustrate how the Òcombat experienceÓ affected me. Overall, my experiences were probably average. I tried to avoid writing a wall-to-wall, shoot-em-up narrative of unrelenting battles and my prominent place in them as a badass pilot and warrior. Ego and poor memory occasionally made this difficult. To be true, I had to write myself out of some of the best stories. War is a formative experience. The permanency of the experience is indisputable and never far from consciousness. Unless you have been there, you will never completely understand the imprint that war makes on a warriorÕs psyche. Flying a helicopter low level over the earth at 120 knots gives the aviator a sense of power, splendor, freedom, mastery, and control. Being just a little closer to the heavens, a little faster and cooler than anyone else in the Army, all contributed to the aviatorÕs self-regard. The infantrymen we fought side by side with viewed Army pilots as their protectors, champions, and liberators. They continually heaped appreciation, gratitude, and admiration on us and made us feel indispensable. We were masters of the sky over the battlefield, gods in our own eyes. Not that any of the god-like aspirations were necessarily warranted, but they served to keep esprit de corps and morale high, motivating Army aviators as young as 19 years old, to get into their machines to fly and fight every day. The title Low Level Gods is a recognition of the hubris and self-regard of aviators, the appreciation of others, and honestly how we felt about ourselves. 28 photos/illustrations. A Merriam Press Vietnam War Memoir.

Good product
Scent: Scented, Size: 26 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
This body wash makes my skin feel SO much softer and less dry. I especially notice a difference when my skin is feeling extra thirsty or Florida-weather confused 😅☀️. It lathers nicely, smells clean without being overpowering, and doesn’t leave my skin feeling stripped afterward. The hyaluronic acid sounds fancy and skincare-science-y, but whatever it’s doing, my skin seems happy about it 😂 Just a really nice everyday body wash that feels a little more luxe than the price.

Hydrates even dragon skin
Scent: Scented, Size: 26 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
As someone who survives Northeast winters with skin that reacts like it’s being punished for existing — flaky, angry, and audibly crunchy — I can confidently say this body wash is a full-blown miracle in a bottle. If you’ve ever woken up in a radiator-heated apartment feeling like your shins have been slow-roasted overnight, this is for you. First off, the scent is light and pleasant, like what I imagine clouds would smell like if they went to therapy. But the real magic is in the feel - - - silky, smooth, and somehow more hydrating than most moisturizers I’ve tried. This stuff lathers like a dream and rinses off clean, but leaves your skin feeling like it just drank a gallon of water and booked a spa day. I’m not saying I have dragon skin, but if Drogon from Game of Thrones took a hot shower in my apartment, I’d lather him up with this and send him off glowing. Thanks to the Vitamin B3 and hyaluronic acid, my skin no longer flakes off like parmesan cheese every time I take off a sweater. Winter in the Northeast is basically a four-month battle between you and every heating unit trying to desiccate you like jerky. This body wash is your secret weapon. Honestly, it should come with a tiny cape. Five stars. Ten if you’ve ever itched your shin so hard in February that you briefly considered moving to Florida.
