On March 9, 1878, three men were murdered in isolated Blackwater Canyon in New Mexico. The suspects were Billy the Kid and a number of his Regulators. This action, almost assuredly taken in retaliation for the death of the Kid's friend, John Henry Tunstall, became the real catalyst in the Lincoln County War. In 2006, the author and a team of investigators searched for the remains of the men and related artifacts in the obscure canyon-the first to do so since the murders. The murders were reconstructed with the discovery of over thirty bullet cartridges. As part of the reconstruction of the crime, the author widens the scope of his investigation by examining the lives and paths of all three victims: William S. "Buck" Morton, a Virginian fleeing from his past; Frank Baker, a mystery man who hid his real name and shady career; and William McCloskey, an elderly cowboy who unsuccessfully attempted to play the peacemaker. The myths and accounts of the three men and their murders are analytically separated. Connective events where the paths of the participants intersected, such as the death of John Tunstall, are likewise examined. Legend and fact are separated in the case and its participants-both victims and suspects. Billy the Kid is justly portrayed as a human being wrought by conflicts. The Regulators and their opposition reveal character both good and bad. An investigative approach to this portion of the Billy the Kid saga corrects the record on some old assumptions and creates new avenues of insight and possibility. David S. Turk is the Historian for the U.S. Marshals Service and is no stranger to historical "cold cases." A graduate from George Mason University, he authored four books and numerous articles on various topics. His interest in Billy the Kid and the New Mexico's Lincoln County War dates to 2003, when publicity crested over a case reopened by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office. His studies resulted in this account of the murders in Blackwater Canyon.

Best socks
Size: Medium, Color: Pink Elixir Assorted
Everyone got socks in their stockings this year. But no one was complaining. They weren't thin like some socks. But not super thick either. Just right. I even bought a pair for myself. No regrets. Will definitely buy again.

Great feel, amazing tech, and perfect fit
Size: Large, Color: Black/Gray (6 Pairs)
I've been purchasing the white w/grey toe socks for most of my adult life. Never really understood why I'd want anything else. Saw these as an Amazon suggestion one day and figured I'd give them a shot. Oh my freaking feet have never been happier!!! I imagine that the fabrics used by UA to wick away sweat and odor are what makes these socks so comfortable, but I would be lying if I said I understood why they were so amazing. They slip on effortlessly and hug your foot throughout the day. Unlike the socks I used to purchase, these do not lose their shape after a full day of wear and exercise. They also have ample thickness to protect my feet while I'm running from any rubbing or hot spots from my shoes. I imagine this has a lot to do with the fact that they maintain their shape and do not move/slip around while wearing. I was a bit hesitant to purchase black running socks at first, but they hide right below my shoe line and are even less noticeable than my old white w/grey toe socks I used to purchase. I am not certain what "charged cotton" means, but if it means amazing feel, great features (wick away sweat; fight odor), and all for a reasonable price. I'm in. Overall, if you're looking for a nice pair of socks to wear throughout the day or while doing your workout, you would be remiss in not giving these UA socks a shot.

Cotton socks have proven to be a simple yet indispensable addition to my daily wear, offering a level of comfort that sets them apart from other materials. The soft, breathable nature of cotton fabric ensures a gentle and cozy embrace for my feet throughout the day. Whether I'm navigating a busy workday or enjoying a relaxing evening at home, these socks provide a pleasant cushioning effect, preventing any discomfort or irritation. Additionally, the moisture-wicking properties of cotton keep my feet dry and fresh, making them an ideal choice for all-day wear. The durability of cotton socks has also impressed me; they maintain their shape and softness even after numerous washes, showcasing the reliability and longevity of the material. One of the key features that make cotton socks a wardrobe essential is their versatility. Suitable for various occasions, these socks effortlessly complement both casual and formal attire. The wide array of colors and patterns available allows for easy integration into any style, making them a go-to choice for different outfits. In terms of value for money, cotton socks offer a cost-effective solution without compromising on quality. Overall, my experience with cotton socks has been consistently positive, and I find myself reaching for them daily due to their unmatched comfort, durability, and adaptability to various fashion choices.
