The Ultimate Collection of “Purple Rain,” the monumental masterpiece that ushered in the Prince era around the world, became the first No. 1 album in the U.S. in 1984, and also starred in his first movie, which was a huge success! The fifth in the series, “THE REHEARSALS,” features rare studio rehearsals from the U.S. tour that took place during the height of Prince's popularity from 1984 to 1985.
CD1 contains studio rehearsals from October 1984, recorded from high-quality soundboard recordings.
CD2 is a recently discovered piano rehearsal from February 7, 1984. The posthumously released “Piano & Microphone” was recorded in 1983, but this time it contains valuable newly discovered recordings of “Raspberry Beret” and “Venus de Milo,” which had not yet been released at that time. The 1984 soundcheck is also a newly unearthed and noteworthy source of over 30 minutes of “FELINE (inc. EROTIC CITY),” as well as unreleased songs and JB covers. This is the fifth and latest title in the highly recommended series, all of which have been remastered and recorded in superb quality!
