It's a bold producer who takes on the task of remixing a stone-cold classic from the annals of house history, but that's just what Joris Voorn and Ambivalent have done with their remixes of DJ Dozia's Ovum debut, "Pop Culture." Originally released in 1998, "Pop Culture" rapidly gained cult status in the underground. Created by Philly resident Dozia Blakey, the raw, sparse, original was made for the dark, strobe-lit, sweat-on-walls rooms where it found favor, and the original 12-inch is now one of the most sought-after 12"s on Discogs.

Older picture books have better stories and hand drawn illustrations

Fun to read aloud, old-school, easy read by Diane DeGroat about classroom friendships, honesty, kindness, and fixing mistakes. K-2nd grade will enjoy.
So many of today’s children’s books lack depth, depend on dumb fart/poop jokes, are tied to tv shows/movies, or overfocus on moralizing and turning kids into little adults. Read for fun with your kids as often as you can! Check out children’s authors/illustrators from the 80’s and 90’s!

Entertaining and teaching book

I got this for Valentine’s Day for my 7 year-old grandson. I thought he’d enjoy the book as the title is funny, not “mushy.” He enjoyed reading the book to me, and I was pleasantly surprised to find a lesson on being kind.
