Setting new standards for reliable power distribution and metering, the HPE G2 P9R77A 6-Outlet PDU is an integral part of HPE’s Advanced Series G2 Metered PDUs. Designed to work precisely with HPE infrastructure and compute solutions, this PDU delivers highly accurate, billing-grade power distribution and metering for rack environments that demand dependable energy visibility. In today’s data centers, where uptime and efficiency are non-negotiable, the G2 P9R77A stands out by combining robust electrical protection with granular energy data that IT and facilities teams can trust for chargeback, capacity planning, and performance optimization. The solution is purpose-built to streamline data collection, reduce management complexity, and help you optimize power usage across dense deployments without sacrificing reliability. By consolidating distribution and metering in a compact 1U form factor, it minimizes cable clutter and frees up valuable rack space, making it ideal for modern IT landscapes that require scalable, intelligent power management. Whether you’re deploying new racks, upgrading an existing infrastructure, or consolidating multiple PDUs for centralized oversight, this device is engineered to deliver clear, actionable insights while preserving the stability and consistency that critical workloads demand.

  • Per-outlet and total energy metering with billing-grade accuracy: This G2 meter delivers real-time energy measurements for each of the six outlets along with the total PDU reading. The precision metering supports accurate chargeback, capacity planning, and energy analytics, helping you quantify utilization down to individual devices and across the entire rack. With consistent, verifiable data, IT teams can identify power-hungry equipment, forecast future needs, and optimize workloads to minimize energy costs without impacting performance.
  • Six-outlet, 1U rack-mount design for efficient rack power distribution: The PDU fits neatly into a standard 19-inch rack and occupies only 1U of vertical space while delivering six dependable outlets. This compact footprint reduces cable tangles and simplifies cable management, enabling cleaner deployments in dense environments. The design accommodates a variety of equipment—from servers to network devices to storage appliances—without compromising accessibility or airflow in the rack.
  • Advanced safety and protection features: Built with robust electrical protections, the G2 P9R77A safeguards connected equipment from common power disturbances. Overcurrent protection, short-circuit safeguards, and thermal monitoring help prevent events that could disrupt workloads. These protections work in harmony with the metering capability to ensure not only reliable power delivery but also proactive visibility into potential issues before they impact service levels.
  • Seamless integration with HPE infrastructure and compute solutions: This PDU is engineered to integrate tightly with HPE management ecosystems. It supports streamlined data collection for energy analytics within your broader IT environment, aligning with HPE’s enterprise-grade hardware and software management workflows. The result is unified power management across servers, storage, and networking gear, enabling consistent telemetry, simplified reporting, and cohesive capacity planning across your HPE ecosystem.
  • Remote monitoring, visibility, and scalability: Real-time readings, logs, and alerting empower operators to act quickly on energy trends and anomalies. The G2 P9R77A scales across multiple racks to provide enterprise-wide visibility, enabling proactive capacity planning and efficiency gains. Whether you’re monitoring a single rack or a data center floor, the PDU’s metering data and alerts deliver the insights needed to optimize power distribution, prevent outages, and improve total cost of ownership.

how to install HPE G2 P9R77A 6-Outlet PDU

  • Prepare the rack space and confirm the mounting location is clear of obstructions to maintain proper airflow around the PDU and connected equipment.
  • Mount the PDU into the 19-inch rack, aligning its rails or supports with the rack profile. Secure firmly using the appropriate screws or mounting hardware supplied with the unit.
  • Connect the PDU’s input power cord to the appropriate power source or distribution path in your data center. Ensure the feed matches the PDU’s design specifications and your facility’s electrical standards.
  • Power on the PDU and verify operation of the local display. Confirm that all six outlets are accessible and that the metering reads are initializing correctly. If the PDU includes a network interface or remote management option, connect it according to the manufacturer’s guidance.
  • Configure outlet groups, metering preferences, and alert thresholds through the local interface or management software. Validate readings by powering representative devices and cross-checking the energy data against known loads to confirm accuracy.
  • Document the configuration for future audits and capacity planning. Establish a routine to review metering data, set up alerts for unusual power usage, and align the PDU’s reporting with your organization’s energy management practices.

Great Buy for First-Time-Mama's
Format: Hardcover
This is my first pregnancy, and I'm very happy I purchased this book. Meghan Trainor will make you laugh and she gets very real with you—it was almost as if I was hanging out with an old friend when I sat down to read. It's a mix of a memoir, a diary, and advice from experts including her personal trainer and her OB/GYN—including exercises by trimester and recipes. She also recommends some products without being sales-y. If you're a first-time-mom (or even if you're not), this is a great buy that's not like other pregnancy books (those can sometimes be information overload in my opinion). This would also be a great gift for a newly pregnant friend. You don't have to be a Meghan Trainor fan to enjoy this book. Book Highlights/Helpful Thoughts - One of my favorite phrases was "influencers are great, but they make pregnancy and labor an aesthetic, and girl, pregnancy is not an aesthetic, it's rough!" - Meghan wanted to give birth vaginally, but due to complications, she had to have a schedule C-Section and she talks about that experience extensively is a way that was helpful. I'm personally doing everything I can to have a natural vaginal birth, but life sometimes has other plans. It was helpful reading her take instead of reading the Reddit horror stories. I now know what to expect in a non-traumatizing way if I were to need a C-section. - Meghan was pregnant during the height of the Covid Pandemic in 2020—so her experiences are based on that. I say this, because she talks a lot about how her husband could not join in at any of her ultrasound appointments and her labor team was limited due to the restrictions. Thankfully appointments are no longer like that.
