Filthy Rich is a sharp, outrageous sendup of the Dallas/Dynasty/Falcon Crest brand of prime-time soap opera, gleefully skewering the schemes, scandals, and excesses of the fabulously wealthy.

At the center of the chaos is Tennessee land baron Big Guy Beck (Slim Pickens), who may be dead — and cryogenically frozen — but still manages to control his family from beyond the grave. Before his death, Big Guy recorded a living will on videotape, with a new portion revealed each week, ensuring that his heirs remain tangled in his final outrageous demands.

The will proves especially tormenting for his socially ambitious elder son Marshall (Michael Lombard) and Marshall’s equally status-conscious wife, Carlotta (Dixie Carter). Their greatest humiliation comes when they are forced to open the doors of the family mansion, Toad Hall, to Big Guy’s illegitimate son, Wild Bill Weschester (Jerry Hardin), and Bill’s delightfully scatterbrained wife, Bootsie (Ann Wedgeworth). For the down-to-earth Weschesters, life at Toad Hall is a dream come true. For the Becks, it is an ongoing social disaster.

Also circling the family fortune is Big Guy’s greedy and glamorous young widow, Kathleen (Delta Burke), who is already hunting for her next wealthy husband, while his first wife, the feisty Mother B (Nedra Volz), repeatedly escapes from her nursing home and refuses to be forgotten.

The only seemingly level-headed member of the clan is younger son Stanley (Charles Frank), an independently wealthy charmer who often works to frustrate Marshall and Carlotta’s endless efforts to outmaneuver the will — and get rid of the Weschesters once and for all. Overseeing it all is family attorney George Wilhoit (Vernon Weddle), charged with carrying out Big Guy’s bizarre final wishes.

When the series returned in October 1982, Forrest Tucker appeared as Big Guy in the videotaped will segments following the death of Slim Pickens after only a few episodes had been produced.

Bawdy, clever, and wonderfully offbeat, Filthy Rich was a wickedly funny satire of the oil-rich family sagas that dominated early-1980s television. Sadly, the series never had the chance to fully blossom, but it remains a witty and satisfying cult favorite.

Practical Guide for Problem Solving and Decision Making
Format: Kindle
This book gives a clear, step by step method for solving problems and making decisions in a business setting. It explains each part of the process well and uses real examples, which help with understanding. Some parts felt a bit too detailed or technical for casual readers, but it's still a solid choice if you want to improve your thinking and planning at work.

Tax Hero!
Format: Paperback
I was scraping pennies for supplies in my small coffee shop located in the lowest level of an office building in Cleveland, OH. "Bookkeeping" consisted of a greasy shoe box nestled in the corner near the window. Tax wasn't an immediate concern because I barely had enough to pay rent. Several years passed. The box became larger and greasier. A friendly customer asked whom I would suggest for tax filing. I said, "When you find someone, let me know." When he visited again, he gave me a business card. By now, the box was bulging. I would have been embarrassed to approach a total stranger, but my customer was kind and I imagined his connection being the same. I got a cleaner, newer box and stuffed receipts corner to corner for facing the music. What does my story have to do with Doug's book? That scary first filing with the kindest person I've met in my long entrepreneurial career taught me a valuable lesson. By the time the accountant stopped laughing at my "bookkeeping", he said, "I'm going to help you this year because you're trying to be a serious business person, but don't ever come to my office again with a shoebox. You have to keep records even if its time consuming. You also need to be incorporated, I'll help." Lucky you! You have a hero.....Doug Collins.

Game Changing Information!
I bought this book months ago and like many others, it found its way to a pile of books I like to call "I'll read them eventually". Yesterday was eventually. A simple read, finished it in one sitting and came away with mountains of info that will save me thousands and even get me money back on previous years taxes. Great info on tax investing strategies as well, well worth the purchase price, and I can't wait to write it off!!

Great advice & tips
Format: Kindle
This book is helpful to new business owners with little to no experience with business tax preparation. I had about 5 pages that was helpful to me because I have had my small business for 8 years and familiar with some of the home based business write offs but there was some useful information that. Are it worth the read.
