The JYRO Helium is the canopy for jumpers who want the comfort and forgiveness of a larger wing without the bulk penalty of a traditional full-size main. It takes roots from the trusted Safire 3 planform and reworks the package with ultralight L-ZP fabric, bigger inlets, optimised crossports and a brake setup tuned for confident landings.

If your dream rig is compact but your sensible canopy size is not tiny, Helium is the happy place. It gives heavier pilots a practical way to fit a larger canopy in a smaller rig, and gives smaller or newer jumpers the option of a stable, forgiving wing without dragging around more pack volume than necessary.

Who it is for

  • Jumpers who want a larger, more forgiving canopy in a more compact container setup.
  • Newer licensed skydivers who value smooth openings, stable flight and deep control range.
  • Progressing flyers who want reliable handling before stepping into a faster sport wing.
  • Travellers and comfort-focused jumpers who appreciate lower pack volume without moving to uncoated low-bulk fabric.

Flight character

Helium is designed to feel easy from pitch to touchdown. Openings are soft, progressive and predictable, with reliable pressurisation from the larger inlets. Toggle response is forgiving and precise rather than sharp, harness inputs are smooth, and rear risers provide one of the best glides in this class for making it back from adventurous spots.

The flare is a major part of the design brief. JYRO’s redefined brake configuration gives a deep control range and strong bottom-end power, especially helpful at lighter wing loadings where some canopies can feel sleepy. Recovery is quick and stable, keeping the canopy forgiving in everyday traffic and normal landing patterns.

Design features

  • L-ZP low-bulk fabric is 20-denier silicone-coated nylon for minimal pack volume and better longevity than uncoated low-bulk fabrics.
  • Safire-inspired 3D planform balances stability, efficiency and easy handling.
  • Optimised crossports improve airflow through the canopy for consistent performance.
  • Advanced inlet design supports reliable openings and efficient pressurisation.
  • Redefined brakes increase flare power and landing confidence.

Options and suitability

SkydiveShop currently lists sizes 129–229. JYRO recommends loading the Helium in the 0.8–1.4 range. As always, choose size according to exit weight, experience, container fit and the advice of a qualified canopy coach or rigger.

Why low bulk matters

Low pack volume is not just about owning a tiny rig. It can help a jumper choose a more sensible canopy size while keeping the container comfortable on the ground and in freefall. Helium is aimed at that sweet spot: the stability of a bigger wing, the convenience of a smaller pack volume, and the durability benefits of coated L-ZP fabric.

Unlike traditional uncoated low-bulk materials that can age quickly, JYRO’s L-ZP is a silicone-coated fabric engineered for longevity. That makes Helium especially interesting for jumpers who want a compact rig without treating the canopy as a short-life compromise.

Pack volume and ordering notes

Pack-volume charts are only a guide. Container model, container age, canopy age and packing style all matter. If you are trying to fit a larger Helium into a smaller rig, confirm the actual combination with a rigger. For progression, size it around honest wing loading and landing goals; the whole point of Helium is comfort, confidence and useful performance.

Before you order

Canopy descriptions are useful, but they do not replace a real suitability check. Your exit weight, currency, landing area, container compatibility, previous canopy history and coaching plan all matter. If you are between sizes or moving into a new performance class, get confirmation from a qualified canopy coach or rigger before placing the order. That keeps the purchase aligned with how you actually fly, not just how good the spec sheet looks.

Great toy for tough chewers. Just don't expect a miracle!
Flavor Name: Bacon, Size: X-Large
This is a great option for tough chewers, although if your dogs are anything like ours, there is a procedure to ANY new toy no matter how "tough". If I gave them this Nylabone and they went unsupervised day one, they would wreck it and it'd be in the trash within the hour. I say this to tell you, if you have a top 10 bite strength aggressive chewer, that you shouldn't expect a miracle. If instead, I give it, take it away when they are working it too hard or being particularly destructive, and then give it back- and do this a few times for a week or so, then they'll chew it in a less aggressive fashion- they'll enjoy it and it lasts a long time. I don't know what it is about the first few days, but when something is "new" it has to be destroyed. When it's been in the house a few days, they are rough but not as bad. Like the ones listed "virtually indestructible" will last 6 months as long as we have multiple around. It will show damage, there will be shrapnel in the carpet that will scratch up your feet, but it'll be worthy of play still. I consider 6 months in our house worthy of 5 stars. This has been true for 2 Dobermans and a German Shepherd- and all of them have proven ability to destroy these products day 1 if I don't behave appropriately on introducing the new toy. If your dog wrecks these in the first 10 minutes, I'd say you probably need to work on supervising new toy play, and taking it away when they become to aggressive. This is a training issue, it can be done!

Durable, almost nondestructable, exelent guality bone.
Flavor Name: Bacon, Size: Medium, Flavor Name: Bacon, Size: Medium
We bought these bones about fifteen years ago and now I've been looking for them and was not able to find them. I've almost given up hope that they're still on the market. We finally found them yesterday. Since then we only have one small left and after a long time of gnawing on it, our two 50lb Labrador/German shepherd puppies are arguing over it. Even though they have other rubber and plastic toys that are supposed to help their teeth and gums, these two have taken a liking to this small size nylon bone and literally fought over it. The are aggressively protecting it like it would be real bone. I can't wait for the new two durable nylon bones to arrive. They are great for their teeth and gums. Thank you for continuing to make them. Dale and Jarmia Rogers

Super tough, great value, addictive toy for my dog.
Flavor Name: Bacon, Size: X-Large
My dog pit/Shepard mix, loves this bone, and I love it because she can't kill this one like all those other Kong toys. She had a smaller nylabone, she killed it but took about a year, this larger one, she won't be able too that soon. Hard expensive Kong things, wouldn't last a couple months with her. So now, 3/17/2026 its still going. One end is gone, but the green part and other bone end she's working on.

Great for Mega Chewer
Flavor Name: Bacon, Size: X-Large
Got one of these for our Rodesien Ridgeback when he was a puppy, and it worked well. So, when my daughter rescued two medium-sized dogs (one is an Australian Cow dog mix, and the other a Plott Hound mix) it was a no-brainer. The Plott Hound mix has jaws of steel and destroys anything and everything he can get his mouth around, except items from this maker. This is the only toy brand I've found that he doesn't demolish in under 5 minutes. Oh, and I'm stunned he can put bite marks in it. The Rodesien Ridgeback didn't even do that when he was a puppy, so I was surprised. However, that being said, the toy is holding up to hours of abuse. I had to buy additional toys because they don't like to share. Update on 01/09/20: these are still holding up to repeated abuse.

Sensational Toy By Nylabone Keeps Your Best Freinds Teeth Snow White!
Flavor Name: Bacon, Size: X-Large
Our Bull dogs LOVE these bones. Long time Nylabone fans they've been making quality dog toys here in the United States for over fifty years. The nubs on the end of the bone age great for cleaning teeth and massaging bones. The center is softer but still holds up to even the toughest aggressive chewers. For whatever reason this isn't a "favorite" toy in the sense that they drag it around a few hours a day but they do play with it and we replace them when the ends start to shred - which should be done with all nylabone chew toys. The price on Amazon is virtually half the cost of the big box pet stores so it's affordable - not to mention fun to replace their toys and try new ones often. Plus with a Prime membership almost every item we buy ships with Free two day shipping - making the deals even that much sweeter.
