Trust Sweet Iron Baby Weymouth Fixed - Low port

Sweet Iron

Sweet Iron bits are crafted from durable steel and feature a distinctive blue color. This material is designed to encourage natural salivation, enhancing your horse's comfort and promoting better acceptance of the bit.

Low port

This bit has a low tongue arch that provides a slight freedom for the tongue.

Fixed or Non-Fixed Weymouth

A Weymouth is used in conjunction with a bradoon in a double bridle, commonly seen in higher-level dressage

Generally, horses that are a bit fussy in their mouths respond better to a fixed bradoon and Weymouth, as the stability provides more clear, definitive aids. The fixed cheek Weymouth remains steadier in the mouth, making the horse more accepting of the bit and the rein aids more direct.

On the other hand, horses that tend to lean or fix on the bit may benefit from more 'play' in the bit, such as a non-fixed Weymouth with a sliding cheek. The non-fixed design allows the bit to move up and down, providing less directive aids and offering more movement in the mouth.

Baby Weymouth vs. Normal Weymouth:

A Baby Weymouth has shorter shanks, offering a milder effect and is ideal for horses new to double bridles or those needing less leverage.

A Normal Weymouth features longer shanks, providing more leverage and control, suitable for experienced horses requiring sharper communication.

Weymouth & Bradoon

The Weymouth features a curb chain and provides leverage, with the impact strength determined by the length of the shanks—the longer the shanks, the sharper the effect. The bradoon, with smaller rings, ensures that the Weymouth can be used without restricting its leverage. A double bridle setup requires a special bridle or an additional cheekpiece. Suitable only for highly experienced riders.

Why Proper Sizing Matters

Choosing the correct bit size is essential for your horse’s comfort and performance. A bit that is too small can create painful pressure points and damage the mouth, while a bit that is too large may slide through the horse's mouth, causing discomfort and pinching the corners, potentially leading to wounds. Always ensure the bit fits snugly without being restrictive to keep your horse comfortable and responsive. To learn more about selecting the right bit size for your horse, visit our How to Find the Right Bit Size page.

Understanding Color Changes

Sweet Iron bits naturally change color over time as they come into contact with humidity. The vibrant blue surface will transition to a greyish-brown tone due to oxidation. This process is entirely normal and improves the bit’s functionality by creating a sweet taste that stimulates salivation and enhances acceptance.

If the bit isn’t used regularly, a thicker layer of rust may form. This is easily removed with a brush or cloth before use to maintain the bit's performance.

A Solid entry in the Star Wars universe
Format: Paperback
These were very fun stories to read. The writing was overall pretty good, and the illustrations were not creepy or weird looking like previous Star Wars comics have suffered from.

Long Halloween Prequel
Format: Paperback
We can see here the first try of what would become a legendary duo for Batman, and it's a very decent one. These 3 stories are inspired by 3 different themes: Fear, Madness, and Ghosts. Personally, Madness was the best one; I've always found the Mad Hatter e very curious villain in this world and the tie-in to Bruce's childhood is a nice feat. The Ghosts story feels very rushed once the second spirit visits (Joker), so it lacks depth in the analysis it's trying to do emulating 'A Christmas Carol'.
