Join us for a riveting conversation with the authors of The Dog-Driven Search: Handling Our Nose Work Dogs to Promote Independence, Joy, and Enthusiasm, Sue Sternberg and Dana Zinn as they delve into the details of The Dog-Driven Search.

This 3-hour long virtual event will be split into two parts:

PART ONE

Test your knowledge of a dog-driven search! Is it just hanging on to the end of your leash while your dog does ‘all the work’? Come watch some video vignettes and test your knowledge of whether the searching is dog-driven or not. The floor will then be opened for questions and comments.

An overview of Orientation - test your knowledge of what our heads, shoulders, hips and feet are saying to our dogs during the search. Awareness of our orientation is the cornerstone of understanding when we are supporting our dogs and when we are suggesting they do something different. We will review some video clips and use freeze frames and still photos of orientation to analyze what our bodies are communicating to our dogs. Are you saying what you want to be saying? The floor will then be opened for questions and comments.

Matching Movements and Speed: Are our movements preemptive, or responsive? How about our speed and pace? Are we in sync with our dogs, or pushing or dragging? Awareness of this is especially important as using our movements and speed to influence our dogs’ searching can be a powerful suggestion. We will be analyzing short video clips of teams using movement and speed disparities deliberately and inadvertently and show its meaning. The floor will then be opened for questions and comments.

PART TWO

How does the dog-driven-search apply to/answer these quandaries/questions:

  • Is it pooling/trapping odor?
  • How do I get my dog into corners?
  • How can I make sure my dog covers all of the area?
  • What if I’m pretty sure I know where the hide is but my dog hasn’t gone there, or has left without alerting?
  • What if I only have 2 minutes for a large search area?

Nice glass canister
Holds coffee airtight, keeping it fresher longer. It's see-through, so even guests know where to get the coffee. Good quality.

Not what I expected
For the price, I thought this was a real air release coffee jar. The kind you can use a vacuum sealer on that really gets out all of the air. This is one of the press pump types. For most, this would be efficient, but I make espresso and need the freshest beans. I roast myself and need them to maintain their freshness and this doesn’t quite do it for me.

Thin glass but good container
My biggest worry with this container is that it is such thin glass. I fear if I were to hit it the wrong way or it even fell a foot it would shatter. The seal is very good though and holds my coffee beans. It is easy to open and seal. I have no issues with it and it does what it is intended for other than it being a bit thin.

I needed a secure container for my flour and this works perfect
I have a unique problem I have dart frogs and because I have dart frogs I have to raise flies unfortunately, the fruit flies really love flower, and I’m having a hard time getting a container that seals and keeps everything out because normally a bay leaf is good enough to keep whatever out of your flower but not not this so I got this container and it’s amazing it seals so nice and tight. You can literally pressurize it to keep your flower completely safe from silly things like fruit flies I know this is unusual, but if you’re looking for a container that really seals this one’s fantastic. I love that it’s glass. I love that you can actually pump the top to pressurize it and then you hit the other button to release the pressure. I will say it is kind of hard to pull the lid off so definitely go slow.

It is heavy
Size: 58.3mm, Color: Black
Item was as described and shipped promptly. It is heavy and works well with my portafilter. I haven't had it long enough to really evaluate how helpful it is.
