Clase Azul Tequila Blanco Ahumad (750ml)

Clase Azul Blanco Ahumado is a newer release that leans into a different side of tequila production. Instead of the standard steam cooking, the agave is slow-roasted in underground pit ovens lined with wood and stone, a method more commonly associated with mezcal. That process is what gives the tequila its signature smoky edge while still keeping it firmly in the tequila category.

Bottled unaged at a slightly higher proof, it comes in with more intensity than the standard Clase Azul Plata. The nose opens with cooked agave and citrus, followed by a gentle smoke and a touch of orchard fruit. On the palate, it’s fuller and more textured than a typical blanco, with roasted agave, lemon, light spice, and a soft, lingering smokiness that builds rather than dominates.

The smoke here is deliberate but controlled. It’s not trying to be mezcal, and it doesn’t overwhelm the agave. Instead, it adds a new layer that gives the tequila more depth and a slightly savory edge.

This is a more modern, experimental take from Clase Azul. Best suited for sipping, especially if you want something that bridges the gap between classic tequila and lightly smoky agave spirits.
