What it's used for

  • Closeboard and panel fence post installations for garden and boundary fencing
  • Feather edge and agricultural fencing in rural and farm settings
  • Gate posts for timber field gates and garden gates
  • General outdoor construction where timber requires direct contact with the ground

Fitting and handling

Before installation, store posts off the ground on bearers in a covered or well-ventilated area to prevent moisture uptake. When setting posts, aim to bury at least one third of the total post length, either concreted into a post hole or set with a steel fence spike on firmer ground. Any fresh cuts made on site should be treated with a suitable end-grain preservative to maintain the UC4 protection at the cut face.

FAQ

What does UC4 mean on a fence post?

UC4 is a use class rating that confirms the timber has been treated to withstand direct contact with the ground. It offers a higher level of preservative protection than UC3 timber, which is only rated for above-ground outdoor exposure. For fence posts set into soil or concrete, UC4 is the correct specification.

What length fence post do I need for a 6ft fence?

For a standard 6ft (1.8m) fence, a 3.0m (10ft) post is typically recommended. This allows roughly 600mm to 750mm to be set in the ground while leaving adequate height above ground to fix the fence panels or boards. On softer ground, the 3.6m post gives additional depth for a more secure footing.

Can I cut a UC4 treated fence post to length?

Yes, UC4 posts can be cut on site. However, cutting exposes untreated timber at the sawn end. Apply a brush-on end-grain preservative rated for ground contact to any fresh cuts before installation to maintain rot resistance at that point.

Wonderful teething toys for small teeth!
We bought these for our new three chihuahua babes and they love them so much! For now, since the babies still get really cold, we just do them as is and are going to hold off on freezing them for a bit but it's still great! They love to chew on either end and the different textures of both the rag and the different ones on the bone itself, keep them really entertained.

Best thing for boredom
My dog loves the Benebone especially when he is bored. He loves the chicken one the best. When the edges start to splinter or get rough, we get him a new one.

My Dog Is Obsessed — Long-Lasting and Worth Every Penny
The Benebone Wishbone is hands-down one of my dog’s favorite chew toys. He cannot get enough of it. The real chicken flavor keeps him interested, and the wishbone shape gives him a solid grip from any angle. What stands out is the durability. My dog is a strong chewer, and this thing holds up far better than most toys on the market. No soft spots, no chunks breaking off, and no mess—just a tough, long-lasting chew that keeps him busy. Made in the USA is a bonus, and the medium size works great for a wide range of breeds. If you’ve got an aggressive chewer or a dog who goes nuts for flavored bones, this one is absolutely worth having in the rotation.
