Platinum Red Tailed Catfish Phractocephalus Hemioliopterus 10cmOverview: The Platinum Red Tailed Catfish, scientifically known as Phractocephalus hemioliopterus, is a striking freshwater species prized for its shimmering platinum hue and distinctive red tail. Its elongated body and predatory nature make it a captivating addition to large, spacious aquariums.
Origin: Originally hailing from South America, specifically the Amazon and Orinoco River basins, this catfish prefers slow-moving, heavily vegetated waters.
Feeding: As carnivorous hunters, these catfish thrive on a diet of meaty foods such as live or frozen prey like shrimp, small fish, and earthworms. Providing variety in their diet is essential for their health and vibrancy.
Tank Mates: Due to their predatory nature and potential for significant growth, suitable tank mates should be robust, large enough not to be considered prey, and compatible with similar water requirements. Fish like large cichlids, pacus, and other sizable catfish can make suitable companions.
Aggression: While not inherently aggressive towards their own species, their predatory instincts can lead to aggression towards smaller tank mates they perceive as food. Keeping them with appropriately sized tank mates is crucial to prevent conflicts.
Experience Level: Keeping Platinum Red Tailed Catfish requires a moderate to advanced level of expertise in fishkeeping. Their size, specific dietary needs, and potential for growth necessitate diligent care and a well-maintained environment.
Water Parameters: Maintaining stable water conditions is imperative. Aim for temperatures between 75-82°F (24-28°C), pH levels of 6.5-7.5, and moderately soft to slightly hard water with proper filtration and regular water changes.

My dogs new favorite toy!
Color: Blue
His new favorite toy! My dog absolutely loves it!!! It’s much bigger than I thought it would be so my dog has to be careful when he’s running with it because he will trip on the legs of the octopus. The best part is there is a little squeaker in the bottom of each leg! Bonus!!! If your dog chews up stuffed animals, this will be no different. It is a stuffed animal. My baby just likes to carry it around and squeak it a 1000 times a day. Don’t mind my crazy voice in the video. That’s the voice I use when he’s excited about a toy. He greets me every day with his octopus.🥰

Fun while they lasted
Color: Green
I ordered two. One for each pup. Both my puppies loved this toy. The first one lasted less than a day with my pup who loves to do the death shake on everything. The second lasted two days with the other as she chews in the same spot. They loved the crinkle noise. However, I'm taking one star away due to not lasting long. Everything else was fine and they enjoyed them while they lasted. Note that most toys do not last long with my pups.

Puppy Loves this toy
Color: Tie Dye Blue
My puppy is a 7wk old Great Pyrenees & Lab mix. He loves this toy! Fun for tug of war and for cuddles. Definitely worth the money. It is durable enough for razor puppy teeth.

The pooch is on Cloud No 9
Color: Blue
Lucky loves everything about this (blue) octopus. It has squeakers in all the right places and the crinkle sound adds to his fun. He’s almost 70lbs and extremely strong, and can be an aggressive player and chewer. So far, it has held up extremely well for the tug-of-war games and crazy shaking play. It’s well worth the money. I also want to mention that this toy is true to size. I have too often ordered dog toys that turned out to be much smaller than advertised.
