Japanese painter, sculptor, writer, installation and performance artist Yayoi Kusama has been in the vanguard of contemporary art for sixty years. Best known for her use of patterns of dots (which she claims evolved from the hallucinations she's had since childhood), Kusama, now 84 years old, is finally getting the international recognition she deserves. Hi, Konnichiwa brings together Kusama's vivid imagery and haunting words with photos of the artist at work and at various stages in her life. The pieces are mostly from recent years (2000-2012), although there are some that go back as far as the 1950s. Here are Kusama's large-scale canvases, environmental sculptures, multi-media installations, and numerous self-portraits. Here, too, are photos of the artist at ten years old, and as a young woman in Tokyo and then New York, often wearing outrageous clothes of her own design. And we see Yayoi Kusama in recent years, working in her studio in Tokyo--minus the garish make-up and red wig. The book is a chronicle of her creative endeavors and of her life, offering a glimpse into the fevered imagination of this very complicated and fascinating woman. Yayoi Kusama was born in 1929 in Japan, and from an early age, suffered from hallucinations, which she maintains inspired the visual language she continues to use today. At art school in Kyoto, she first began to experiment with the subversive themes that became her trademark. After leaving school, Kusama had a period of intense productivity, and by 1955, was gaining prominence as an artist in Japan. In 1958, Yayoi Kusama moved to New York, where she was one of the pioneers of the Pop Art and performance art movements. She became a darling of the media, promoting free sex and anti-war activism. She started Kusama Fashion Company, which was quite successful--her clothes sold in hundreds of stores including Bloomingdales By the 1970s, the earlier energy and excitement of the New York art scene had subsided. In 1973, Kusama went back to Japan, and in 1977, took up residence in a psychiatric hospital, where she still lives. She built a large studio nearby and continues to work there. While she certainly didn't fade into obscurity, Yayoi Kusama moved out of the spotlight. The last few years, however, have seen renewed interest in her work. In 2008, Christie's sold a painting for $5.1 million, then a record for a living female artist. A major retrospective opened at the Whitney Museum in New York in Summer 2013; and at the same she Kusama collaborated with Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton collection featuring her polka dots. Kusama recently signed with a new gallery in New York, and a solo show is planned for Fall 2013.Shipping Notes

Very soft and comfy
Size: Queen Comforter, Color: Grey Comforter, Size: Queen Comforter, Color: Grey Comforter
The only issue i have is when i got the comforter out of the packaging and unfolded it, unfortunately there was a hole in it. Besides that, the comforter is great. Way better than the one i had on before. Will prolly purchase another one soon.

Most Comfortable blanket!
Color: White, Size: Queen(90"*90")
Silky smooth and soft. The smooth side is cooler and good for summer nights while the patterned side provides a little more warmth for cold nights. Have not needed anything else. Works great for me - hot sleeper in Florida with AC at 73 and ceiling fan on. Might have to kick a leg out in the middle of the night or find part of the blanket that is not heated from my body and then I can stay cool. If the AC is turned down just one degree to 72, I stay cool throughout the whole night and sometimes cold. Blanket would probably be too warm at any household temperatures above 74 unless it was FL winter or a colder climate. Nevertheless, it is so comfortable on the skin and easy to move around in.

The softest summer blanket ever!
I bought this wonderful & underestimated king size blanket on Amazon from SnuggleSac. I got it because of the reviews & the company was rated very well. It came faster than I thought. I got the arctic blue color & it is beautiful. I have a queen size bed but love oversized blankets. I’m so happy I did. I have really bad neuropathy in my hands & especially my feet from an allergic life threatening reaction to the flu shot. If I forget my meds, have a busy day my feet & or with my hands-which I have been, they are on fire with shards of glass feeling. I get sweaty (dang hot flashes) easily too so I have to be really careful on how soft a blanket is. It is summer in Ga & the only blanket so far that did not cause so much excruciating pain was my heavy winter cuddle duds that I got from kohls that they don’t carry anymore, it is way too way to hot for summer also & just sheets no matter how soft they are like rubbing sandpaper on my feet. This blanket is THE softest I have ever felt, that was lightweight but heavier than a sheet or two sewn together, is very cool to the touch, didn’t cause me pain from having it on-even on bad days, there was no smell, the quality is so far top notch-only used it for 3 days now & what I was worried was the reverse side being harder or too rough to reverse it but was so happy both sides are equally soft. Both my daughter (who wanted to take it) & my husband want both one now. My dog has his own pillows that he always slept on my bed & now he sleeps on the blanket. Even he loves it! I just pray it holds up for a long time to come & I will update if there is any change! Definitely recommend this blanket! Love it! Thank you so much SnuggleSac
