Senegal Bichir Polypterus Senagalus 10cmOverview: The Senegal Bichir, also known as the Gray Bichir or Cuvier's Bichir, is a fascinating and ancient fish that boasts a prehistoric appearance with its elongated body, armored scales, and numerous dorsal finlets. This species is capable of breathing air due to its modified swim bladder, allowing it to survive in oxygen-poor waters. Growing up to 14 inches in captivity, the Senegal Bichir is a captivating addition to any large freshwater aquarium.
Origin: Native to the freshwater habitats of West and Central Africa, the Senegal Bichir thrives in a variety of environmental conditions ranging from rivers and streams to lakes and floodplains. Their adaptability in fluctuating water conditions makes them a resilient species in the aquarium setting.
Feeding: Senegal Bichirs are carnivorous and require a diet rich in protein. They readily accept a variety of foods including live, frozen, or freeze-dried bloodworms, brine shrimp, earthworms, and small fish. Feeding should be done in the evening as they are nocturnal hunters by nature.
Tank Mates: When choosing tank mates, opt for other medium to large-sized fish that are not small enough to be considered prey. Peaceful to semi-aggressive species that dwell in different water layers make ideal companions. Avoid very small fish, as they may be inadvertently eaten by the Bichir.
Aggression: Generally, the Senegal Bichir is a peaceful species, especially towards fish that cannot be swallowed. However, they can exhibit predatory behavior towards much smaller fish. Ensuring adequate space and hiding spots can minimize territorial disputes.
Experience Level: Suitable for intermediate to advanced aquarists, the Senegal Bichir requires some knowledge of fish care, particularly in terms of diet and tank requirements, to thrive in captivity.
Water Parameters:
- Temperature: 76°F to 82°F (24°C to 28°C)
- pH: 6.0 to 7.5
- Hardness: 5 to 20 dGH
- Aquarium Size: A minimum of 75 gallons is recommended to accommodate their size and ensure ample swimming space.

Good quality sound deadener at a good price.
Model: NewSLS50_52
Quality sound deadening that adheres to body panels well. You can easily hear the vibration reduction after just the first piece by tapping on the body panel before and after.

BUY THIS ONE!
Model: NewSLS50_52
This is one of the good ones. There are other brands just as good, and manny brands are worse, but this handles well, rolls down easily, doesn't come off at all easily, and adapts to dips and curves like a champ.
Appropriately heavy and dead, I'm happy with the way it smothers panel resonances and even at muffling direct sound, like a big hand over my Uncle Harry's eternally noisy mouth. You can rip the foil but you have to work hard at doing that.
Remember to buy a brayer; you can roll overlaps nice and thin. Also remember to pre-wipe the sheet metal with a decent solvent like acetone or Stoddard/Varsol. It should last forever.

Good stuff, but watch the temp
Model: NewSLS50_52
I used this in my single cab pickup truck (89 ford.) It only took half the box (10 sheets or 25 square feet) to do the floors, but I bought the big box because I plan to do the doors, back wall, and maybe the roof as well. One thing I learned is that the temperature matters when you’re doing the installation. It was around 55F when I started in the evening, and when it dipped down into the 40s the sheets would not stick to the metal, and were hard to compress with the roller. That’s why I ended up only doing the floors and not any vertical surfaces; i will have to wait for a nice hot day. The other thing is that the foil layer on top is razor sharp at the edges, definitely wear gloves! I didn’t notice until after but I have little papercuts all over my fingers. Aside from those things, the install was easy and straightforward. The sheets cut easily with scissors, and any goo that ends up on your hands or scissors can be cleaned up with acetone (nail polish remover), or lacquer thinner. I would use this stuff again.
