Should all radiators be fitted with radiator reflective foil?

Radiator foil is most effective behind radiators fitted to external walls, where heat loss is greatest. Internal walls are not heat-loss walls, so fitting reflectors there is unlikely to bring noticeable savings. Party walls between properties usually don't need reflectors either, unless the property is empty, or your neighbours like a cold house! 

Most radiator types can benefit from reflective foil, as long as there's space behind the radiator to fit it. 

How much difference do radiator reflectors make?

On external solid walls that have no insulation, having radiator reflectors can save over £4 per radiator per year. It really does pay to have radiator reflectors! If you have 5 radiators on exposed walls in your property, you could be looking at savings of about £20 a year. Even in a well insulated property, you would save around £5 a year.

How do you fit Radiator Reflective Foil?

1. Cut the foil to the size required to fit behind the radiator.
2. Make 1cm fold along the top of the sheet and slide at least two Radklips over the fold.
3. Rolls the sheet around the Radklips at least once to secure.
4. Position the Radklips on the wall brackets with equal distance between the wall, the sheet, and the radiator.
