A Huge and Magnificent XXL Green and Black Stromatolite Standing Leaf Sculpture.
Standing 47 cm tall and 20 cm wide, this is an unusual showpiece with a character and a story.
Fossil Stromatolite is an ancient Cyanobacteria that is largely responsible for creating the earliest Oxygen on our planet, therefore helping the atmospheric gases to be able to support life as we know it. It is also one of the earliest living things on the planet. In Madagascar they are approximately 60-80 myo, whereas we have 2800 myo Stromatolites in South Africa. Australia still has living Stromatolites.
The Black rings are the the Stromatolites and these are in a primordial Green Pyroxene Matrix and is also known as Kombamba/ Kombamby Jasper (from its location. My partner in Madagascar, Denis Mboho (now deceased) was the first to discover this stone many years ago. This a nice Giant Symbolic leaf representing the ancient formation of the Earth, along with the leaf representing Life and also being the only reason why we are still alive today!!
