THE STORY:

This oil painting of a Butet Classic saddle is painted on an 10x10" panel with a 12x12" open grain wood frame. This was the first saddle I started painting for The Saddle Series. It has no fancy stitching or branding label but is humbly painted as a timeless French saddle. Notice the stirrup leather stains painted across its rich, iridescent surface.  5 hours and 35 minutes went into creating this painting.

Was it brought along to horse shows? Maybe a little girl struggled to throw it over a school pony's back every Wednesday after school. Only the saddle's owner knows what life it's encountered; but even then, a saddle has secret memories we can only speculate through its stains and wrinkles.
