La Verdadera Historia de los Super´heroes es una serie de retratos ambientales de las personas que desde los Estados Unidos - en particular en la ciduad de Nueva York - ayudan económicamente a sus comunidades en México y significan una importante fuerza económica en el desarrollo de ambos países. Esta serie consiste de 20 fotografías a color de inmigrantes mexicanos vestidos con los trajes de los superhéroes de la cultura pop norteamericana y los superhéroes de la cultura popular mexicana. Cada super´heroe ha sido retratado en su ambiente laborla y la fotografía incluye un pequeño texto con su nombre, el de su comunidad en México, cuánto tiempo tiene trabajando en Nueva York y la cantidad de dinero que manda a México semanalmente. El principal objetivo de esta serie es homenajear al hombre ordinario que sin ningún poder super natural, logra que su comunidad sobreviva y progrese.

In our thirst for Hollywood action heroes and caped crusaders, we sometimes overlook the everyday heroes in our midst. U.S.-based Mexican photographer Dulce Pinzón (born 1974) pays homage to Mexican immigrant workers in New York, heroes who sacrifice extraordinary hours in extreme conditions for very low wages, all for the sake of families and communities in Mexico who rely on them to survive. The Mexican economy has quietly become dependent on the money sent from workers in the United States, while the U.S. economy has quietly become dependent on the labor of Mexican immigrants. These color photographs present these immigrants in their work environment, but dressed in the costumes of popular American and Mexican superheroes. Short texts present the worker's "secret identity," their hometown and the amount of money they send to their families each week.

Recognizing the Hearts that Burn Within Us

Yes, Theo of Golden does, at times, border on the melodramatic and the sentimental. It can be repetitive. It can take an awfully long time to make its point. And yet, the novel speaks very significantly of the need for love, compassion, generosity and forgiveness---in a world that is not always kind, in a world where many of us carry secret burdens---where sadness (mixed with intermittent joy) might be viewed as a universal human affliction. Theo of Golden is, overall, a book of glad tidings. An end with a future. Thoughtfully, warmly and intelligently written. A novel that often addresses the beauty of Art, most notably painting and music. A novel in which I learned what a fado is. In fact, I learned a lot from this novel. Unlike some readers, I did not see the book as misogynistic or xenophobic. I didn't necessarily see it as "Christian fiction"---unless you mean doing good, striving for strength of spirit and understanding the connection between "the ultimate and the proximate, the wide grace and the narrow way." Finally, I don't view the novel's conclusion as disappointing, but simply as falling action and resolution. It is, after all, a very traditionally structured work. Kudos to the author Allen Levi for having written an initially self-published book that was later picked up by a major publishing house. That is, indeed, a rarity.

I used to buy Sparkle years ago , it was the only brand I bought, but I stopped because they were lower quality than names like Bounty. Recently, before payday I ran out of paper towels and bought this pack before payday so I didn't have to shell out $25 for paper towels. Sparkle i can honestly say has improved immensely in quality, yet still staying reasonably priced. I noticed as soon as I opened one roll it was better quality. They are stronger, much stronger than they used to be. No loose lint like they used to have. They are a bit stiffer in feel compared to Bounty, but still feel soft. Cleaning is the real test for me. The old Sparkle shredded apart as soon as I wet the towel to clean. The new Sparkle is amazing. Gotta say I like it better than Bounty. I used it to clean the bathroom and the towels held up extremely well with being water soaked, used to scrub (friction & pulling). They don't feel thick which i like. Reusable? I'd dunk the towel in water, scrub then rinse the towel and wipe and it held up . Sparkle has improved and won me over!
