Victron 3600W Isolation Transformer: Marine-Grade Galvanic Corrosion Prevention with Auto-Sensing Voltage

Engineered Safety for Onboard AC Systems

The Victron 3600W Isolation Transformer provides a critical safety barrier between shore power and your vessel's electrical system. By completely isolating the boat from the shore ground, it eliminates the risk of galvanic corrosion that can silently destroy propellers, shafts, and through-hull fittings. This is not just a convenience; it is a fundamental protection for any boat connected to AC shore power.

Unlike galvanic isolators that only partially block low-voltage DC currents, a full isolation transformer breaks the electrical continuity entirely. This ensures that your sacrificial anodes are not rapidly consumed and that your underwater metals remain intact, even in marinas with poor shore-power grounding.

Auto-Sensing 115/230V Input for Global Cruising

This model automatically detects the incoming shore voltage and configures itself accordingly. When connected to a supply between 88V and 130V, it switches to 115V mode; for supplies between 185V and 250V, it engages 230V mode. This auto-sensing capability makes it ideal for vessels that travel between regions with different shore power standards, eliminating manual switching and reducing the risk of equipment damage.

The transformer also provides a slight voltage boost with its 1:1.05 ratio, compensating for voltage drop in long shore-power cables and ensuring your onboard appliances receive a stable supply.

Soft Start Technology Protects Shore Power Breakers

Large transformers can draw a significant inrush current when first energised, often tripping marina breakers. The integrated soft start circuit in this Victron unit limits that initial surge, allowing a smooth connection every time. This feature is especially valuable in older marinas with sensitive breakers, preventing frustrating power interruptions.

Built for the Marine Environment

Housed in a robust aluminium enclosure with a corrosion-resistant blue finish (RAL 5012), this transformer is rated IP21 for protection against dripping water. The toroidal core design minimises audible hum and reduces weight compared to traditional laminated transformers, making installation easier in tight engine rooms or lazarettes. Recessed handles on the sides allow for safe lifting and positioning of the 21.7 kg unit.

Bottom-entry compression glands provide secure, strain-relieved cable connections, maintaining the integrity of the wiring even in high-vibration marine environments.

Key Features

  • Complete galvanic isolation eliminates shore-power ground connection, preventing corrosion
  • Automatic 115/230V input detection for worldwide compatibility
  • Soft start circuit prevents nuisance tripping of shore breakers
  • Toroidal transformer design for low noise and reduced weight
  • 1:1.05 voltage ratio compensates for cable voltage drop
  • Robust IP21 aluminium enclosure with recessed handles
  • 32A output at 115V, 16A at 230V for versatile load handling

Applications Beyond Basic Isolation

While primarily designed for marine use, this transformer is also suitable for industrial and mobile applications where galvanic isolation is required. It can be configured as a step-up or step-down transformer: 115V to 120V, 230V to 240V, 115V to 240V, or 230V to 120V. This flexibility makes it a valuable component in custom power systems for workshops, remote sites, or specialised equipment.

For optimal safety, it is recommended to connect the secondary neutral to ground when the vessel is out of the water, ensuring full GFCI functionality during maintenance.

Protect Your Investment with Proven Victron Engineering

Galvanic corrosion is a silent threat that can lead to costly repairs. Installing a Victron isolation transformer is a proactive measure that safeguards your vessel's underwater metals and enhances onboard electrical safety. With its automatic voltage sensing, soft start, and rugged construction, this unit is a reliable choice for serious cruisers and marine professionals.

Equip your boat with the isolation it needs. Order the Victron 3600W Isolation Transformer today and sail with confidence, knowing your electrical system is fully protected.

Good
Format: Paperback
Not as impactful as its predecessor, but still an enjoyable novel. The concepts tackled here are more new adult, though still plenty of young adult to go around.

Beautiful
Format: Paperback
Not as I expected, I kinda was hoping for more of a storyline connected to the first book, or even a pt2, but nonetheless still such a beautiful book filled with love and I definitely say it’s worth reading and adding to your collection ! Just to clarify it does included the old characters but mainly not till the end, and only for a few chapters. Still so wonderful !

I wanted more
Format: Kindle
This one fell a little flat. The ending felt rushed after so much build up. I still am happy to have read it and to learn more about the LGBTQIA experience - even if fictional.

Not as good as the prequel but still amazing
Format: Hardcover
This book made me laugh cry and everything in between. In my opinion, Last Night at The Telegraph Club was a better book overall but this one was also good and i love the way the prequels story was connected to this books main character. I will say the beginning is a bit dry but it picks up towards the middle, stick with it!
