Nuphar Lutea, also known as Brandy Bottle or the Yellow Waterlily, is a vigorous pond plant that is tolerant of running water and heavy shade. Its flower has a slight fragrant smell of alcohol. Plant the Yellow Waterlily in still or flowing water - in fast flowing water ensure it is anchored well, as the leaves may remain under the surface due to the flow. Nuphar Lutea, Brandy Bottle, is an excellent addition to lilies in a pond.

Deep water pond plants are more tolerant of shade and moving water, but equally good at providing surface cover, helping to keep the water clear. Nuphar Lutea is the best option for ponds with running water, as it will grow in fast flowing streams.

Where do you plant deep water pond plants?
Deep Water Plants are best placed in still water away from constant splashing and flow from the likes of fountains and waterfalls. Nuphar Lutea, or the Yellow Waterlily, grows best in full sun but can tolerate some shade. When placing Deep Water Plants into the pond make sure to lower them in stages to allow the plant to acclimatize to its new depth, this way the leaves can stretch to the surface during each stage of the descent.
