Charnwood - 5ft UK King - Solid Oak Bed Frame - Low Platform - Circular Leg

The Charnwood 5ft king size solid oak bed frame offers generous sleeping space while maintaining a low, grounded presence. Its Japanese-inspired platform design makes it ideal for calm, spacious bedrooms where simplicity and proportion are key.

The recessed circular oak legs create a subtle architectural detail, keeping the frame visually light without compromising strength. Precision jigsaw joinery ensures exceptional stability and longevity.

Handcrafted in England from sustainably sourced solid oak, the Charnwood king size bed is designed for comfort, durability, and timeless appeal.

Two Circular Leg Options

The Charnwood is available with two solid oak leg styles, letting you choose how much joint detail you want to see:

Full Circle with External Decorative Joint
A complete circular leg with an expressed external joint — a proud detail that highlights the build quality and gives the design a clear signature.

Semi-Circle Visible Detail
A more understated option, where the circular leg is partially concealed within the frame, leaving a softer semi-circular profile visible.

Both options are recessed into the rails and positioned set-back from the corners for comfort, balance, and a crisp silhouette.

Key Features

Low Platform Design – Japanese-inspired height, perfect for kids’ rooms, loft conversions, and calm minimalist spaces.

Recessed Circular Legs – Set approx. 200mm in from each end to reduce bumped feet and improve movement around the frame.

Jigsaw-Style Joinery – Precision-fitted for exceptional strength and clean alignment.

Two Leg Styles – Choose a full circle with an expressed external joint or a semi-circle visible detail for a quieter look.

Soft, Architectural Detail – Rounded leg forms add warmth while keeping the frame sharp and refined.

Handcrafted in England – Designed and made in The Old Joinery, Berkhamsted.

Solid Oak Construction – Sustainably sourced oak, each frame showing unique grain and character.

Built to Last – A long-term piece, made properly with the correct materials and best-practice joinery.

Ideal for Kids and Attic Rooms

The Charnwood’s low height and recessed leg placement make it especially practical for children and tighter spaces. It keeps the room feeling spacious, reduces hard corners visually, and offers the everyday durability you want from a solid oak frame.

Why Choose the Charnwood?

The Charnwood is a bed frame for people who appreciate restraint, proportion, and honest construction. Its low platform form brings calm to the room, while the recessed circular legs and expressed joints add quiet craftsmanship you’ll notice more over time. Made from solid oak and finished by hand, it’s built to age beautifully and stay in the family.

Vader's Second Marvel Series Is Good!
Format: Paperback
This is actually the start of a second Vader series. The first one began, along with the new Marvel main Star Wars series, right after the Death Star was destroyed. That Vader series birthed the new characters of Doctor Aphra, Triple Zero, BeeTee, and Cylo. Now, that series has come to an end. THIS NEW SERIES IS GOOD! It picks up the moment that Anakin Skywalker awakes in his armor at the end of Revenge of the Sith. It chronicles the first steps of Darth Vader. We learn something new about the Sith. They do not create their own lightsabers. They must take a saber from a Jedi and make it their own. The Sith blades are red and only red. Why? Palpatine explains that the kyber crystals that power the sabers are living things within the Force. This is backed up by the Rogue One novel (it was either that or Catalyst). The crystals are rock, but they are also alive. In the hands of a Sith, the new owner uses the Dark Side to push all his pain into the crystal--until the crystal bleeds and turns the color of the beam red. I just think that is all sorts of awesome!

Vader when he still is Anakin
Format: Paperback
This comic picks up right where Episode III left off. Like directly. There's the whole "Noooooooooo" thing and everything. I liked seeing Vader when he is new to being a Sith. It really is Anakin under there still. Throughout the comic, that Anakin begins to fall away. I liked the mix of prequel and original trilogy aesthetic. Seeing Vader alongside clone troopers was very cool. The Grand Inquisitor even makes a cameo! I read the Dark Horse comics that took place right after Order 66 so certain aspects of this comic remind me of those. In this comic, there are jedi who took the Barash Vow prior to the Purge, so they are still out and about in the galaxy. Vader takes this opportunity to take a lightsaber and make it bleed. I really enjoyed this first volume in a new, ongoing comic series. I am absolutely excited for volume two. I give this volume a 5/5.

The Lord Vader Treatment
Format: Kindle
Love this Darth perspective. It potentially fills in some gaps in the timeline in the beginning of his transition. Loved the humor and the art.
