HeroX Integrated Remote Control with Optical Fibre Video

Meet the HeroX integrated remote control: a ground station that actually earns the word “integrated.” Optical fibre video transmission, a sunlight-visible 2000-nit 7-inch 1080P touch screen, and full RC controls—all in one. Transmission distance? 30 km out of the box, 80 km if you feel like taunting the CAA paperwork gods. Yes, it supports Mavlink and CRSF. Yes, it’s only 0.8 kg. And yes, you can finally stop juggling six different boxes of kit like a Rotor Riot blooper reel.

Why You Want It

Think of it as the Swiss Army knife of ground stations—except the blades are fibre-optic, Linux-powered, and laugh in the face of sun glare. You’ll pull telemetry, video, and control through a single portable unit without praying to the magic smoke gods. And if you’re wondering why it’s not cheaper—well, keeping a 30 km HD link stable is a bit trickier than Arduino blink.

FAQ

  • Can you use this with non-fibre optic drones?

    • No it is not possible to use the Hero X with a wireless/alternative video input.  It can only be used with a fibre optic video transmission system.  We do sell alternative wireless GCS controllers such as herelink or hero3
  • What is the HeroX system?
    • HeroX is a fully integrated fiber-optic video transmission and remote-control system designed for long-range unmanned platforms. When paired with NanoHD F1, F2 or F3 air units, it delivers stable, low-latency HD video and control signals over distances up to 30km (80km optional) using single-mode fiber.
  • How far can the HeroX transmit video and control signals?
    • HeroX supports 0–30km transmission by default, and can be customised for 40km or 80km applications depending on your fiber requirements.
  • What air units are compatible with HeroX?
    • HeroX works with the full NanoHD series:

F1 – HDMI input, flexible camera options

      F2 – Integrated 4K mini digital camera

F3 – Compatible with standard AV (analog) FPV cameras

Each unit connects to HeroX using the FC/APC optical fiber interface.

  • What flight controllers does HeroX support?
    • HeroX works with almost any modern FC that supports CRSF (Crossfire) protocol. Setup is done via UART serial configuration (e.g., Betaflight: Serial RX → CRSF).
  • Does HeroX support OSD?
    • Yes, HeroX displays:

      Battery level

      Attitude

      GPS status

      Flight mode

      Arm/unlock state

Users can switch between FPV/DJI/MK-style OSD layouts.

  • How do I stream HeroX video to a computer or ground station?
    • Connect HeroX via RJ45 and use an RTSP-compatible player such as VLC.

      Default stream address:

      rtsp://192.168.1.110:554/stream0

      This allows sharing video to:

      Windows PC

      QGroundControl

      Custom ground stations

  • What is the video latency of the system?
    • F1: ~50ms

      F2 & F3: ~80ms

      Encoding options: Low Latency / H.264 / H.265

  • Does the HeroX support HDMI output?
    • Yes. HeroX provides HDMI output
  • Can I change the IP addresses of HeroX or the air units?
    • Yes. Both HeroX and F1/F2/F3 support full network configuration.  A 10-second long-press resets devices to default (e.g., 192.168.1.110 for F1/F2/F3, 192.168.1.210 for HeroX).
  • How do I power the HeroX remote controller?
    • HeroX includes a 3500mAh ×4 18650 battery pack
  • Can the HeroX control unmanned ground vehicles or robots?
    • Yes. Because control data is sent using CRSF over fiber, it can control most remote control vehicles
  • Does HeroX use Wi-Fi or RF?
    • No. All control and video signals are carried through single-mode optical fiber
  • Can HeroX be used indoors or underground?
    • Yes. Because it uses fiber rather than radio waves
  • How do I calibrate the sticks and controls?

Still Here?

If you’ve read this far, you’re either serious about long-range fibre video transmission or just really bored at work. Either way, the HeroX gives you pro-grade range and clarity in a single 0.8 kg package. Add to cart now, or risk explaining to your flying buddies why you’re still stuck with a sun-blinded screen and spaghetti cables.

Admit it—your current screen taps out in sunlight. HeroX brings a 2000-nit 7" 1080P touch display so bright it laughs at noon. Go on, click buy.

Thus is Great
They so far are indestructible in the jaws of my two large German Shepards. To be fair, this is NOT a ball to toss because it seems to be more in the cannonball family than in the soft dog toy world. Each of my pups love their Monster K9 balls but when they drop it on our hardwood floors, the whole household knows where they are.

Great toy but never received the replacement they offer.
It’s is a very durable toy. But not indestructible. My dog loves the ball and it did last 4 months which is much longer than any of his other toys. I emailed the company to see if they honored their one time replacement policy for Amazon orders. I was told they do and was told I was shipped a replacement. But we never received it. We’ve ordered plenty from Amazon before and after this so I don’t know where the hold up would of happened but here we are. I did email the company back and told them that I didn’t receive the replacement and asked if they could verify my address….but they haven’t responded. Just sucks. Would of been great if I actually got the replacement!

My HEAVY chewers favorite ball
It's dense and has some weight to it, can definitely get good distance when throwing and it bounces a long way. It's soft enough for my dog to chew on but tough enough that even with her destroying every toy I get her she looses these before ever tearing into them. About softball size.

Safe
I normally don't write reviews but these products deserve the effort! I bought 4 different black toys from this Brand and all are still intact after 6 months heavy usage by 2 aggressive chewers (a Belg Malinois & black Lab), fantastic products and unlike so many other brands promising to be indestructible, these are the first toys that were not eaten within a month. No more visits to Vet to pay for Xrays after digesting plastic or rubber from badly made toys. Highly recommended.
