The story behind this model begins with Jonas Taureck’s adventurous journey across the African desert in a 1963 Magirus Deutz. Stranded and in need of power for the vehicle’s batteries, he discovers the forgotten HK500 high-power lamp in a Niger village. This moment sparked the rebirth of Petromax in Germany, bringing the brand’s production and rights back to life. The model’s number plate features "MD," symbolising Magdeburg, the home of Petromax.
Constructed from durable zinc and plastic, the model is presented with a display case and base, making it ideal for collectors. The limited-edition release commemorates the 100th anniversary of the HK500 lamp, adorned with the distinctive dragon logo and stylised HK500 imagery, adding exclusivity to this detailed miniature.
