The Original Rocking Sheep – like mye et møbel som et leketøy

The Original Rocking Sheep er både et møbel og et leketøy. Rammen er laget av furu, og hodet er utskåret for hånd. Kroppen er polstret med skum og trukket med saueskinn. Povl Kjer designet det første Rocking Sheep i 1981 til sin niese – som en humoristisk påminnelse om hennes røtter på landet. Rocking Sheep har siden blitt godt kjent, først i Danmark, deretter i resten av Skandinavia, og i dag selges denne danske designklassikeren over hele verden.

Treet som brukes til Rocking Sheep er furu – et treslag som tradisjonelt har vært brukt i skandinaviske møbler på grunn av sine gode egenskaper. Alt treverk kommer fra svenske eller finske skoger. Treet er FSC-sertifisert, og vår leverandør opplyser alltid hvilket sagbruk som har bearbeidet treet for hver enkelt leveranse.

Saueskinnene kommer fra Island og Sverige, hvor sauene går fritt med lammene sine i ren og uberørt natur. Sauene avles for kjøttproduksjon, og når et Rocking Sheep trekkes med saueskinn, utnyttes dermed en ressurs som ellers ville gått til spille. Skinnene garves på Europas beste og mest kontrollerte garveri.

Når det gjelder bærekraft, er det kanskje aller viktigst at produksjonen vår er lokal og finner sted på landsbygda i hjertet av Danmark. The Genesis of Black Theology
James Cone’s initial foray into the intentional development of a black theology ought be required reading for any serious Christian theologian. It challenges long-standing Christian claims by challenging not so much the claims themselves, but the racist presuppositions to those claims. The language is contextual, I suspect, offensive to many. But the language is effective in illuminating the racist presuppositions. Read with a critical eye, one can indeed find under-developed theological claims that could bear sharpened revision. But as with any first revolutionary theological work, the brilliance lies in the courageous and compelling insight that demands personal reflection and dare I say ... theological modification.

Okay, so this was written in the 60’s at the height of the civil rights movement. Given that, you might expect the arguments to be a little dated. Not so. This reflects brilliance of Cone and the failure of America to make real progress. I found Cone’s book to be a damning comment on today’s churches. As a white Protestant I’m ashamed that my church hasn’t embraced more of Cone’s argument. As a Lutheran, we’ve done better than most, but we have more to do. Professor Cone’s work should be required reading for all seminarians and church leaders.

It is prophetic for it continues to in the here and now. The language is harsh and often accusatory.
