MEMORIAL MEDALS FROM THE PIOTROVSKY COLL Hermitage Memorial Medals from the Collection of Academician Boris Piotrovsky
The State Hermitage 1994.Petersburg
Soft Bound .96 pages .Text in English and Russian.
In June 1993 the Hermitage received Boris Piotrovsky's collection of medals, as a gift from his family. Among other things, the collection, comprising some 200 items of the late 19th—20th centuries, is of considerable interest because of its owner, a representative of St. Petersburg intelligentsia, world famous scholar, and the director of the Hermitage during a quarter of a century. Boris Borisovich Piotrovsky belonged to those collectors who are able to appreciate the real value of "miniature monuments" which combine the artists' talent and craftsmanship and the memory of glorious events and outstanding personalities. It is due to this interest of him that the Hermitage collection of medals has a number of important items donated, at different times, by its director. The present collection consisting of medals given to Boris Piotrovsky, either as awards or gifts from artists, his friends and colleagues, is largely of personally commemorative nature; for this reason it was decided to preserve it as a single exposition. Unlike many other collectors, Piotrovsky did not make it his only goal to acquire rarities or objects united with a similar theme or subject matter. One of the most attractive aspects of this collection is its having been formed as a reflection of its owner's many interests. The medal is an object of a noble and, in a sense, elite art. Himself belonging to the cultural elite of our society, Piotrovsky made his collection of medals an integral part of his universe, together with books, paintings, drawings, and works of applied art.

My Rottie plays with this for hours at a time! He loves it! It fun to watch too! The plastic is high quality and has lasted for 2 weeks, so far. That pretty good for a Rottie toy! He loves the lights,
vibration, and the fact that it rolls away. So fun!

Pass on this one.
It's hard plastic, which doesn't make for a fun experience for either the dog, or our floors. It doesn't stay charged for long either. I wasn't impressed at all...and neither was the dog.

Best dog toy ever
So good I bought another. My dog is obsessed with this. The only downfall is after she has chewed it a bit l, it becomes sharp to open

Fun and durable toy
Lots of fun for this crazy guy! He pounces on it, chases it and has so much fun. The confusion on his face is so funny. He usually gets bored fast, however this ball keeps him quite entertained.
The ball holds a charge for a few playtimes so that is also a plus!
